A CCW user sent in this image of an usual box of PSD4s - the bottom of the box has no date or factory code and only J52 burnt into the corner. Otherwise box and contents look fine, and the serial number checks out. Source is well known and very reputable.

Anybody ever see anything like this before?

Hmm, when I was in Cuba a few weeks ago at one of the factories I asked about box labeling and one of the guides told me that in the future to control quality they are going to start placing the actual rollers information on the box as well.  Maybe this is it, but not sure why no location or date?

I have seen the brand in the corner on several boxes across several marcas.

These started in 2012 I think.

lack of a date code is really not surprising, the brand in the corner is enough for me.

If the brand was not there, nor a date code,I would run the serial #.

Interesting, so they will place 25 rollers info on the box?

Not sure, but I was told they assigned rollers to batches so no not 25, etc. to each box. The supervisor told me they never like to see more than 2 rollers complete the same box...

Though Ken would be pleased, this is gibberish.

while I have no doubt HSA would come up with a scheme to place a torcedors info on boxes to give the perceived illusion of stricter QC, cigars are absolutely sorted by wrapper shade and will continue to contain cigars from numerous torcedors.

I have no idea whats going on with this particular box but I would bet it is legit just maybe not intended for sale.

Could've been lost in translation and perhaps it's the branding of the maker - the box maker - not the roller....?

P67 no doubting the source ..the cigars were excellent ..petit edmudo as well

also may make re-using boxes more difficult for counterfeiters, if its a code that cannot be sanded off....

I don't know - were I a counterfeiter, I'd love to have boxes with legit stamps / brands..... :)

not, if years and prod. need to be matching - think about it....

till now it was easy to sand off the ink stamp.

But just an idea popping up - could be meaning something completely different.

Since the 25 cigars in the box are matched by wrapper shade, there is no logical way to know who rolled each of the cigars.

There is a possibility that every cigar in a box could have been rolled by a different roller.

I know for fact that with a brand like Padron, every cigar in the box is rolled by the same person.

If I'm a counterfeiter, I'd take all the legit boxes, bands, and seals I could get my hands on - the more factory markings, the better.

Mr. Gargett will be keen to hear about the roller information being included on packaging, he has been advocating for this for some time.
