Okay, everyone loves the Hoyo Des Dieux, but it appears they aren't being made right now. So what do you think is the best being produced right now? du prince? San Juan? one of the Epicures?

I'm not much of a HdM smoker, but I'm hearing from Rob and others that 15 Du Prince production is smoking very well right now. I know some are enjoying both Epicures, but I'm really hearing praise for the Du Prince at the moment.

I'm not huge on Hoyo either (equal parts lack of experience and relative preference) but do really enjoy the San Juan, and DC if the construction is there. I've left the Epi2 alone for awhile because my last box was still a bit green. Overdue to give it another shot.

I'm a big HDM fan.  Currently smoking DCs, Epi 1s, Epi 2s, Des Dieux, Epi Especial and Du Prince.  Of the lot I'd have to say the Du Prince is my current favorite followed closely by the Des Dieux.

Cheers!

I think Bill's thoughts hit the mark. I too don't smoke enough Hoyo de Monterrey to make a definitive comment, other than to say, that I know I favour the Le Hoyo line and I enjoy the San Juan and du Prince too.

I love the San Juan too and actually have two or three buried deep in the vault somewhere but just haven't smoked enough of them lately to rank them.  Perhaps if they show up on the 24:24 I'll pick some up and put them in the rotation.  Fingers crossed!

For me, the recent Du Prince and Petite Robustos have been excellent.  Great little cigars at hit the ground running and have a good bit of complexity to them despite their smaller size.

I had an Epi2 from the robusto sampler last night and it was stellar!

Tons of caramel and cream!

I have a box of Epi1 coming and I hope its as good.

I am glad that someone @JohnS brought up the fact that there is a differentiation in the Le Hoyo line. I am a fan of the Le Hoyo line.

Unfortunately I smoke "0" newer cigars. Like the Capt. @CaptainQuintero I enjoy the Petit Robusto and that would be the newest Hoyo that I am smoking, from '06 I believe.

Yesterday (I guess, day before now) I smoked a du Roi, and it was a 100 point cigar, if I ever knew what one smoked like! I was going to post a brief review, but my interest in that waned and I did not...

The only thing that has really got me concerned about newer cigars and this would include the newer Le Hoyos that I have been getting, is the marginal attention put in producing one with sufficient tobacco! Many of these cigars are mushy and light in weight. Their weight variation (I posted some about this before) is all over the place. I will be very disappointed to find 10-20-30 percent of these cigar are undefiled as I begin to start to smoke them several years from now...

In terms of large format cigars, I think the DCs are excellent--complex, evolving and impeccably constructed.

Like others have stated, among the small to medium format HDMs, I greatly prefer the Le Hoyo line over the Epicures. Every few months I'll dip into the San Juans and each time I do I find that they have taken a leap forward. A very high quality cigar that will only get better over time.  The 2015 du Prince is a revelation and IMHO a top 3 cigar for 2016.  Bright, zesty and full of life, they put a smile on my face every time out.
