"Yesterday in Havana, Habanos S.A. conducted the auction of the humidors to its distributors, with more than half of the companies who distribute Habanos S.A. products around the world participating. When the final bids had been tallied, all 49 were accounted for, and Habanos S.A. says that all of them will hit the market with a price of at least 200,000 euros, or roughly $222,789 based on current exchange rates."

It all goes to prove, money, and an abundance of it, does not give you good taste or good sense! -Piggy

The morning after the gala dinner in February I was on the phone to my wife when I walked past the winning bidder of the No. 1 humidor. I put him on the phone to her. She had just the right thing to s

# 1 sold at Habanos Fest early this year.  49 left according to the article, so I'd say they are all gone.

AmI reading this right?

Inside each humidor is 50 of the first 60 ring gauge cigar to come from Habanos, the Cohiba 50 Aniversario, which measures 7 x 60 and has been given the vitola name grandiosos.

That's it, 50 cigars? Are there any other sizes?

The Cohiba Behike 40th Anniversary Humidor (100 made in 2006) sold for 15000 Euro.  We all scratched our head.

Today, the few available are in the 150,000 Euro territory.

On my travels I've found out that retailers love foot bands. They help prevent the wrappers cracking at the foot when customers squeeze them. Not that that would be an issue with those Cohibas.

What collectors ask for this stuff is completely self-gratifying and not indicative of market value. Please... lets hear from someone to is stupid enough to pay 150K Euros a box of cigars!!! I venture that anyone can actually afford it, is not stupid enough to pay that kind of money for it. But, I could be wrong!

Asking price is not an indicator of market price. I mean why not ask 1.5 million Euros because no one is gonna' pay you that kind of money for them in either case.

Want to see what they are really worth, put them up at a auction-house.

In this case....your wrong Ray :P

People do fly in and drop 40-50-60-70-80,000 pounds at a sitting in places such as London.

150 K Euro is unimaginable to me for a box of cigars. However enough buyers exist. Enough buyers willing to part coin at a price = market value

Agreed and applies to anything out there...wine, watches, art, cars, yachts etc....1M to some is like a grand to others as unimagineable as that may be...

80K at a sitting for cigar(s) verses 150K for a box of cigars is not the same my friend. Okay, dictators and crony capitalist are not my crowd, nor do I pal around with celebrities and others that don't really work for their money... There is a chump born every minute and some have bread!!! I get it!

The point being, asking 150K for a box of cigars does not indicate market value. It indicates beholder value and that is different. I am not talking 'stupid with their money' people as much as defining 'market value.' No one has to prove to me that there are obscenely rich people (God bless them) and some do some incredibly stupid things with it!!! That is not my argument, just a note that being stupid with money, generally leads to not having it.

When I see one sell with multiple bidders at Christies, I will be able to put a name to an idiot... Then I will believe it, that the idiot exists, not that a box of cigars is 'worth' $150K Euros! Cheers! -Ray
