Ok, ok, ok, You were right. You have all convinced me. I now realize that smaller ring gauge cigars such as petit coronas can be great smokes. I have been smoking Cuban cigars for two years now and I have stayed away from these sizes. I am a former cigarette smoker and the sight of anything under a 46 ring gauge has repulsed and reminded me of the gross addiction that I lived with.

Last week I tried an Hoyo De Monterrey that I received in a trade. It has been sitting in my humidor for months. I don't know which one it was, but it was probably between a ring gauge of 40 to 42 and a length of 5 to 6 inches. To make a long story short it was very tasty. Lasted for about an hour. A little bitter but very robust and I was able nub it without any problem.

So my question is what's next? Please let me know what I should try next based off of my current inventory of boxes below.

Thanks for your help.

Partagas Serie D No 4

Partagas Serie E No 2

Romeo Y Julieta Short Churchill

Trinidad Fundadores

RASS

Cuaba Distinguidos

Punch Double Coronas

SLR Serie A

Easy - Monte 4, PLPC, Bolivar PC

3 forum/worldwide favourites!

I forgot to mention but I recently bought a Box of Bolivar Royal Coronas. Would you exclude the Bolivar PC knowing this and go with the other two. Or are they so good that you would add them to your collection anyway?

For long and skinny my favourite are probably the Montecristo Especial #2, La Gloria Cubana #4 and the Cohiba Corona Especial

For around 42 RG my favourites are the Monte #3, QDO Corona, PLPC and Bolivar Petit corona

The list will get long as everyone has different tastes but the adventure of finding what you enjoy is one of the best parts of this hobby

Just do a search on Cubancigarwebsite for regular production cigars from 33-42 RG and work your way through the list!

I'd add Partagas shorts to the mix also.

I can't really comment as I've never had a Royal Corona however I do know that the Boli PC is a firm fav on here. Can't go wrong with having them aswell!

Great point! People do seem to love them. This is going to be a tough decision. Thanks again for your advice.

Bolivar PC. I have a box of both and enjoy them both but ever BPC I've had has been a wow experience.

Also, from your list you might want to add something like a Mag 46 which is,many people's go to on here. Not to big, not to small, not too rich- up there with my "deserted island" choices.

OK, it's time to stop recommending the LGC #4... Supply is too short as it is! :)

JK: a fantastic smoke and one of my favorites for a lazy Sunday morning with a coffee.

Hey, nice start!

I've been in somewhat the same boat; Churchill smoker for years, had my head turned to PC this past year. The quality and variety in that vitola are astounding. PLPC are fabulous but you may find they need a little time. I'll tell you, I was surprised by how much I enjoy the RyJ PC and that is a cigar that is fully ready right away. Put a cab of PLPC down and smoke the RyJ in the meantime. HUPC also terrific.

You most likely had a Hoyo de Monterrey Coronation. If not, then you had a Le Hoyo du Prince or Palmas Extra.

Anyway, what to have next? Definitely a Montecristo No.4. La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or No.4 and Por Larranaga Petit Corona are also excellent suggestions.

This is music to my ears. I love RYJ. Especialy the short chuchill i have. Its my favorite. For some reason most people don't like the marca. Good to hear their PC is good.

As in Ronald Horschack from Welcome Back Kotter going, "OOO!! OOO!!! OOO!!!" You gotta try one of our tried and true favorites; Por Larranaga Petite Corona! That one is as naturally sweet as honey; smooth and mellow as honeyed brandywine; as enveloping and loving as toasted bread from Grandmother's hearth! Give it a shot! It was one of the few petite coronas I tried that turned me on to them too, as I once was too, anti-PC size smokes! thumbsup.gif

Boli PC, Partagas Short, Boli JC are all that are a bit on the stronger side in terms of taste and body. Personally, I'm just getting my Monte 4's to come around. Prefer the first three thus far.

Well, no need to go all cold turkey; dropping from a Jumbo ring size to a 42. :P

I'd light up that Punch DC. Sure it's looooong, but not so fat and the recent editions have been smoking beautifully! :cigar:

Of course a PSD4 is practically fool proof too!
