ElAbogado Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I'm curious to hear y'all's thoughts on these two PCs. I've been on a PC kick of late and these are about the only two boxes I don't have, probably because no one seems to be talking about them. Has quality been poor of late? Simply reach for other PCs? Or reach for other vitolas in these marcas? I love PCs, JL2s, and RyJ Ex. 4s and Wide Churchills - seems like I'd love these as well. Let me know if you smoke them and what you think of them.
ChanceSchmerr Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Juan Lopez PC are stellar........IF you like the Juan Lopez marca flavour. They are bang-on for the marca, just like Coronas used to be for most other marcas. I traded my last box as part of a gigantic trade for a box of RA225 RE's (I regret nothing!) but I will pounce on the next PSP/HQ box Rob posts up on the 24:24. I avoid RyJs in most cases, someone else should be able to chime in. 2
losttrailer Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Can't say something about the RyJ Petit Coronas as it's to long ago since i had my last one and it's the only marca i tend to stay with the bigger Ring gauges. The JL Petit Coronas imho is ( next to SP Non Plus for softer blends ) one of the if not THE most underrated Petit Corona. If you like the JL No.2 give it a try, you wont regret it. However a bit hard to come by these days. 1
luv2fly Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 SP Non Plus is a great cigar as well. Need to grab some if I can.
earthson Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Never been a fan of Juan Lopez, but the RyJ are great. Like I think all PCs, they need a few years to be approachable. I'm assuming you have boxes of HUPC, RGPC and PLPC? That's the holy PC trinity for me.

fabes Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I had a JL PC the other day and thought to myself "damn, thus is an excellent cigar!". As stated you have to be a JL fan. Seems to be a devisive marca. I do enjoy the RyJ PC as well. A bit darker. JLs in the summer RyJs in the winter 1
NicPac Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Also been wonder about the JL PC. I'll be keeping my eyes open for a box or two now
ElAbogado Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 Maybe we'll see these in an upcoming 24:24? (hint hint!) 1
zeedubbya Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I got a box of PSP RYJ Pet. Corona recently and after only a week or two down they were extremely enjoyable. Really really good. Haven't had JLPC so can't comment but I would buy 5 more boxes of these RYJs if the opportunity arose. PC is becoming a favorite Vitola of mine rather fast. 2
DWC Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 I smoked thru a couple of boxes of JL PC's a couple of years ago. I liked them enough to buy a couple more boxes to lay down. They were nice but seemed to need more time on them. Thanks for reminding me. It's about time to revisit them. As far as the RyJ PC is concerned, I was looking for a smaller rg cigar that has the flavors of the EX 4. (I love the EX 4 but not crazy about bigger rg cigars) The RyJ PC comes close, not quite, but close. I've been smoking thru fresh boxes and enjoying them very much. As long as they keep making them like they are now, I will continue to smoke them. No rest required. I hope this helps you. -Dan 1
anacostiakat Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 No experience with the RyJ's. But the JL PC's I have had were very good! A little more mongrel that I expected but I like that in my minutos and CJ's and PC's. 1

I couldn't have put it any better than ZDub. A really nice smoke RIGHT NOW while my PLPC gain a little age. Enjoying one as I rap this out! 1
JoeyW Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I got a box of JL PC and i got to say that i prefere them when young . Lets say less then 24 months . They were very smooth young and now with 4 years on them they are almost flavor less . It s the kind of cigar you just smoke right away imo 1
DropTopDee Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I had my first JL PC (2010) and wow! I immediately reached out to rob for a box. 1
martinr Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 The JL PC and RJ PC are both on my list to buy in my next order of Singles. Thanks for the above, its great being able to find info and discussions on all the different cigars! FOH is great! 1
earthson Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Yep. Well Perlas instead of the PC with RG. 2 totally different animals, IMO. I don't care for the Perlas at all. The PC is one of those "under the radar" smokes for me. 1

Ralphanator Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I've never had a R&J PC..The last three boxes of JL PC I smoked were from 2006 and they were fantastic for me I smoked thru them very fast. Right now I'm working on a box from 2002 that I got on a trade and they are Stellar.. I have nothing current every time I look to buy they are out. If you can find them stock up PLPC is one of my Favorites 1
jwr0201 Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Enjoyed my first JL Wide Churchill this weekend. Very pleasantly surprised. Savory at first, then big notes of citrus zest. Perfect cnstruction, bit tight on the draw, but that is easily corrected. Burn was flawless. Overall, a very good cigar that I will revisit.
LeafLover Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I've gone away from the JLPC. What I remember from them were a higher rate of construction flaws (tight to plugged) per box compared to other Marcos of the vitola. Granted I've only gone through 4 boxes spanning 3 different years. They had, from memory, great sweet candy like flavors but with very little evolution from start to finish- borderline boring IMO. But, it's a solid daily cigars that u don't mind pitching if you had to.
