cube Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Love the Bolivar SC's - only had singles (from various different B&M's) rather than a box, but every one I've had has been superb. The price does make me back away a bit though - its tough to justify the extra coin for SC's over BBF's which have been fantastic recently.
DoubleDD Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 I agree with you Rob. Both are at the top for me. Love the Party especially.
drsupremos Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 For me the robustos supremos and the upmann 56 I have three boxes of the RACA but have not tried them yet
Fugu Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Right now: Partagas and Boli, closely followed by the great Grand HdM In the long run I expect it to be the RyJ de Luxe. Didn't have the Magnum 56 yet and will probably never have the Cohiba (unless gifted) as I can't stand the format.
RijkdeGooier Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Smoked all various times. Right now: HdM Grand Epicure - good now Bolivar Super Corona - great ROTT Down the line Partagas Seleccion Privada - good ROTT, great down the line Cohiba Robustos Supremos - inconsistent first 2 months, stabalised, with great potential H.Upmann Mag 56 - good already, depth for the long run in spades 1
SparklePony Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 The Seleccion Privada is certainly #1 on my list. The Club Allones, while it's explosive right now, has all the makings of an excellent cigar in 5 years.
El Presidente Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 Didn't you just give Cohiba Robusto Supremo a 97 in the video wherein Ken & You look like you were in la la land. So your telling me these two are above 97? For me...yes. If I were to purchase two boxes today from the list, then they are the two boxes I would purchase. The CRS is an excellent cigar and the ones shared with ken were exceptional. However I would still take a Partagas over it as I have enjoyed them consistently more. Same for the Punch, but then again I am a sucker for that rich peanut butter profile.

Fugu Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I finally got around to smoking a Punch Sabroso... no where as good as the Punch LE. Wasn't a fan (of the LE). But so much love for them here, I think I'll have to revisit.
El Presidente Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 It doesn't state purchase you wrote best "the best two boxes of cigars to choose from the past three years of Limited Editions" Additionally you may want to check out your Partagas review you stated that reviewed was the best one in the box and you rated it 92-93. And of course you rated Supremo at 97. I know what the problem is you've been watching to many of our Presidential debates the next symptom could go either way the Republicans have an affinity for the word liar while former president and current husband of the likely Democratic candidate, Oh he had a real affinity for cigars must say it was quite novel. But video review cigars are reviewed on the day? A great one? A poor one? a mediocre one? Crikey I would have had 20 or 30 of each since released from many a different box. This isn't presidential debates... as it is real life, real experiences, trying to impress no one bar hopefully ourselves through the experience of the cigar. 2
SipIt Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I haven't had all of them, but really like the 14 party and 14 Boli.

ayepatz Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Just had another Boli SC from our host. I stand by my earlier statement. Gorgeous cigar.
Orion21 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Just had another Boli SC from our host. I stand by my earlier statement. Gorgeous cigar. I'm a huge fan of Boli. BRC and Petite Corona are two of my favorite cigars. What gives me pause about this SC is the multiple reviews that claim them to be pretty mild cigars. What is your opinion? While I'm not in love with the price point I do love the size.

I wouldn't have described today's as mild. Medium to begin with, medium full by the last third. My experience of the couple of others I've smoked were that they were pretty much bang on medium. To me it smokes like a longer, slightly fuller BRC. But that's based on 3 cigars. Would be interested to know what others think.

I can't say that it shares too much in common with the BRC, if for no other reason than the entirely unscientific reason that I dislike the BRC and I really liked the BSC LOL! For me it's been a solid medium cigar, with enough subtle flavour hints to indicate future evolution lies ahead for those aging it. 1
moryc Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I had my last HDM Epicure today and it was very enjoyable. My mother was over and had a puff. She thought that it was very tasty
Ken Gargett Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I think I'm starting to turn slightly porcine, I've only tried one; the Bolivar and it didn't leave a great impact on me. My interest in EL has died off significantly, the soaring prices in recent years certainly hasn't helped plus 1. i'm happy to try them if i get a chance but i have lost a lot of the interest i had. when they first came out, they were very well priced and they were pretty much it, if you wanted something other than the standards (yes, i know there were a few other things out there but no anejados, no reservas, no regional releases etc etc). made it all worthwhile. i eagerly looked forward to the releases, could tell you what was good, bad or indifferent. still have quite a few which i still very much enjoy. i just get tired of the endless parade of special releases. seems there is hardly a normal cigar left. and the prices? golden egg, anyone? as for the last three years (or a few years before that), i honestly could not name a single LE.

IDK about that, I bet you could. I guess when they're free, they're no longer noteworthy beyond the time it takes to make video 'review'.
BrightonCorgi Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 The best hands down EL in the last couple of years is Partagas Selection Privada. That is a real blockbuster, sit you on your arse cigar... Partagas for me has been the most consistent performing EL year in and out... 1
TheMonk Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Over a year has passed since my previous post in this thread, and now that I have tried (and retried, and retried...) the Mag56, I completely agree with the Prez: the Magnum 56 will be the standout out of the LEs mentioned, and by a mile. In fact, IMO it already is... no need to wait 10 years to confirm that. As for the second place, I'm still torn between the Partagas Seleccion Privada and the CORO Supremos... they both seem to have ageing potential, just not sure which one will age best. If I had to choose now, though, I'd probably go for the Party, if for no other reason then truly disliking the 58 ring gauge on the CORO Supremos... 56 really is my limit.
foursite12 Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Agree that it's timely to revisit this. In the interim I have tried the Punch and the RACA. The Punch is phenomenal; one of the best cigars out there in my view, however, other than the RACA I simply have not had the others mentioned to compare it to. The RACA is also a terrific cigar, delivered in a format that complements its blend and flavor profile. I have had several over the last year and my only quibble is that some have been a bit lean in the middle third. This seems at odds with most review comments on this smoke so your mileage may vary. On the whole, I love 'em.
rhcolbert Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Got out of the LE game a while back. Only having box purchases as an option, it's been just too expensive for the risk. I've had some of the best cigars and some of the worst doing this. Stepped away from regionals for the same reason. After reading the comments I am damn curious tho now about several! 1
