Partagas Maduro Number 1 ...Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down?

Released in 2015, these have been out for a while and I am pretty sure there hasn't been a cigar that has divided the cuban cigar community quite so much thinking.gif

I see a lot of feed back on them from "Love them" to "loathe them" and not too much in between.

I always thought it a ballsy move by Habanos to release a maduro Partagas and it is too early to determine whether it is a commercial success, a commercial failure or whetherit will finish somewhere in between.

Still, that is not the point of the question.

do you like them? do you dislike them....let us know your thoughts in a little detail thumbsup.gif

A clear thumbsdwn.gifthumbsdwn.gifthumbsdwn.gif from me

Woody (oaky-woody), woody, woody with a little bit of moist dirt added. Nothing more. Lacking in complexity and evol.

Nice makeup, overpriced.

Like them very much

I think it's an excellent version for

Me when I want to get the taste of a short smoke in a Corona size

I bought a box from El Prez from a 24:24. At first, I thought they were a little harsh. Maybe cause I smoked one rott (idiot me). I've been through half a box and they are a lot better than that first one. I get cocoa, leather and earth now. I like them.

I've only had one but I enjoyed it. I got sort of a spice cake sweeter flavor along with leathery, toasty tobacco. It burned perfectly too, not a touch up or relight the whole smoke, nice relaxing experience for me.

Only had one, which I got from LCDH in Chester UK last summer. Very enjoyable, but I love everything Partagas.

Good review but a huge pet peeve of mine it's ESPRESSO not expresso. No such thing in the coffee world. Otherwise nice write up.

What bothers me much more, is that there is a growing crowd who thinks it were spelled Nespresso...

I agree, it was a risky and yet courageous move to produce a Partagas cigar with a maduro wrapper. Personally, I can handle a 'change of pace' with a Cohiba Maduro 5 as I believe that flavour profile goes okay with a sweeter, chocolate/cocoa wrapper, but I question doing so with a cigar that has the Partagas flavour profile, which tends to be more full-bodied, with leather, toasted tobacco (or Earth) and pepper more prominent. I'm still open to trying them though as who knows as they age how they settle, flavourwise?

On the other hand, put a Maduro wrapper on an H. Upmann cigar and I would be definitely more intrigued!

Listen, if we are going to start correcting misused words we will have no time for smoking, the net is rife with them...........

Have smoked a couple and have to say although I'm a Partagas fan, at the moment these aren't doing it. I reckon they'll only get better a couple of years down the line though.

Only had one, I guess I'm in the middle. Didn't really like it but I didn't dislike it. That being said, I'd probably choose a different cigar 95% of the time.

I really wanted to hate them since I dislike all about the whole idea.

I loved all three sticks I had.

They are not a maduro in the NC sense, mind you.

I picked up a fiver from Rob and have smoked two and given one away. I really enjoyed them and thought they tasted very much like the COHIBA Genios.

I smoked one and enjoyed it. Not sure I'd go for a full box though. Will try a few more as the first one I had was a bit too "fresh". It had quite of bit of ammonia. Review here.
