Ive been loving the Upmann Half Coronas of late but just cant help feeling that they are a tad short.

Are there any recommendations out there for current production cigars with 44 RG that are longer than 90 mm?

Not that I know of. 44 RG is pretty much extinct outside of these new Half Corona sizes.

But I feel your pain--the Franciscos vitola (Boli Coronas Extra, for example) was one of my favorite sizes and I miss it dearly.

The next best thing is probably a Dalias vitola (Siglo V, 898V) at 43 x 170mm

If you love the Upmann Half Coronas, I would go down 2RG to a Corona, or up 2RG to a Mag 46.

Only two current production cigars have a medium ring gauge of 44/64ths of an inch and are longer than 90 mm. The Jose L. Piedra Conservas is a short filler cigar at 140 mm in length and the Trinidad Coloniales is 132 mm in length.

The HUHC was blended for power, and therefore it is not a result of the ring guage.

The BOLI CJ is similar in power, still a shortie,at 42 rg.

Partagas shorts can be pretty stout, depends on the box.

Upmanns Corona Major has some muscle too,but hard to find right now............looking.gif

Thanks for the feedback guys, I like the idea of just lighting another one but the second one never seems to be as good as the first!!!

Haven't tried the colonials, Trinnies don't seem to get much love on lately..

Definitely pick up some Colonials, you can always find good boxes... recent or aged... great size

fonseca no 1 is 44 as well

Yes, but not in current production, which is what JC is looking for -- cigars which are likely to be generally available.

They are widely available, actually. Even with 2015 BD.

Interesting. So the discontinuation hasn't "phased in" yet? How long does it usually take?

I think it's just one of those cases of HSA giving unreliable information :)

More casualties driven by Tabacuba's desire to make and sell overpriced fat cigars with 2 bands in shiny boxes!

Damn shame!

RGCE, SLR A... Boli CE... RIP!
