Hey everyone,

My names Matthew and I just placed my first order for a box of psdn4. I am SO excited. I am 23 but would like to add that I am by no means a lightweight when it comes to cigars. I don't mean this in terms of my knowledge but I am familiar with the industry and have smoked thousands of different stogies.

I live in Miami,FL and personally met numerous times Jose and Jessica Padron, Cynthia and Carlito Fuente, Rocky Patel, Nestor Miranda, Tony Borhani and a bunch of other NC cigar owners. This is not to brag they just have LOTS of events here where the ceo's show up. I have smoked just about every single

padron, fuente, davidoff, tatujaue, pepin, nc montecristos partagas romeo room 101 san lotano , ashton which I know is fuente. You name it, i've had it. I have NEVER had a cigar that has the flavor profile of something like a 2014 Bolivar Super Corona where you can literally taste syrup which is a standout flavor throughout most of the stick.

So many cc cigars I've had from sir winstons to rj#2 to a typical monte #2will have these flavors that just have a distinct sweetness or a actual milk chocolate, citrus, flower, mocha late coffee- not black chocolate and espresso from virtually every nc cigar i've had. I'm wondering if it's just me that I can't ever get anything close to these flavors from nc cigars. I am curious why is this?!

Everyone I know here just bashes cc's saying that qc is awful and not worth the money when there are absolutely INCREDIBLE cc's for under 10$ a stick that I have never had any issues with. I seem to be the only person I know here who genuinely enjoys the typical dessert like flavor profile that lots of cc's offer when all the nicaraguan cigars (in general) taste like charcoal, some cream maybe, dark coffee, leather, wood and spice with dr cigars being a tad more sweet than lots of nica cigars.

These are just my general observations of those two countries and of course there will be some exceptions- just not many that I know. Whenever I try to defend cc here i just get bashed and am called a noob or cuban cigar fanboy which is so damn ironic because every other person I know is freaking cuban!!!!!!

Tobacco grown in different geographical regions have different properties. There are certainly flavors characteristic to Cuban tobacco not found in tobacco grown elsewhere. Pretty much the only answer I have for you.

If you prefer the flavors found in CCs to those found in NCs, well, smoke CCs! The rest of the world overwhelmingly prefers CCs. And the prices are usually comparable or less than many premuim NCs.

Smoke what you like. A lot of people say a lot of things. The only thing that matters is what you like.

Macanudo Vintage 1997. I still have a box or two left. Milk Chocolate but be warned, you'll want to burn your clothes the next moring.

http://www.neptunecigar.com/pr/macanudo_maduro_vintage_1997_perfecto_6__49.aspx

Dominican Cohiba Black. Makes everything taste like chocolate, loads of smoke, nice burn. One of my fav NC's.

Nub Camaroon- I always picked up cedar with a hint of sweetness.

CAO- Brazilla- Similar to the Cohiba black.

Then there are the infuzed with who knows what Drew Estate Java series and Acid's Blondie and Kuba Kuba etc.

I smoke Habanos almost completely but there are plenty of sweet non Cubans. Just about every maduro cigar is sweet.

Padron, especially the 64 Anniversario

Oliva Serie G maduro

As noted above, CAO Brazilia. The little ones in the tin are a great smoke and a super bargain

I do think there are a lot of flavors that are unique to Habanos. I've never smoked any non Cuban that tasted at all like Hoyo, La Gloria, Montecristo, Cohiba, Trinidad, or Ramon Allones.

Why would you even try to convince them? I hope they never discover cc's, more for the rest of us.

Good point there!

Neptunes cigars is only a couple minutes away from me. I never was able to pick up those flavors from the cohiba black but i will give the macunudo a shot.

Every time I have had a NC that offered sweetness, I had the feeling that the sweetness was artificial, not the result of a blend of well cured leaves of high quality.

I remember a Padilla 1932 that was like smoking a chocolate bar. Rather good but bizarre…

I also find a "non natural" sugary taste in the Fuente Short Story…

Interesting. I find many NCs have a pronounced sweetness to them, yet most CCs do not. The few exceptions for me would be older Punch (peanut butter), the occasional SCDLH (mollases), the rare Monte PE (semi sweet chocolate) or oddly enough some caramel in the LCDH Bolivar Liberators.

Most maduro NCs are sugar bombs imo. Often bluntly so. Fuente 858 stands out for me.

strange ... i found that there are many NC that are sweeter than CC , also NC are like "flavour to the face " most of CC are about flavour nuances and actually there are not any CC which can stay against NC in term of STRENGHT....

Wow that is crazy. I have smoked those cigars and just pick up completely different flavors. I member before also mentioned the padron 64 maduro to be sweet which I have never found to be the case.

I will agree with the strength aspect 100%. Wheather it's in terms of body or actual power the nc cigars are certainly powerhouses. Perhaps that CC are just what my personal pallet enjoys the most. Last nights cigar...456b97df66a99a218ccf42dc5095f967.jpg

As far as NC's, I think you live in the right place! And that is a hell of a view to boot. As far as the CC's go, personally I've been burning through the RASS like there is no tomorrow. I'm not very good at describing the flavor, but it's definitely unique and I love it. As far as sweetness, I always thought the La Flor Dominicana limitado 3's and coranado's had some mild sweetness to them, plus they aren't a kick in the head strong.

Thanks im glad you like the photo! I do enjoy LFD lim 3's for a dr smoke. Im awful at describing flavors I taste also. However, with a above post here I notice the sweetness that is on few nc cigars to be more of a artificial like sweetness. Especially on the fuente 858's Anejos and the canela wrappers. Just my 2.354588 cents.

Another good nc cigar. Well good for what they are I just don't enjoy them that much but I can see why people do.

Fuente Angel's Share remind me of Por Larranaga in their sweet, dessert-y way.

Nope. I home roll, NC leaf. My last blend had notes of toasted marshmallow. Country of origin, growing conditions, type of leaf and priming all factor into the flavors we perceive.

Higher tend Fuente, Ashton, some Warped, all have sweet profiles.

I'll add that I find a sweet profile in a lot of Illusione sticks, too.
