suggs Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 What regular production cigar, one which gets a lot of press and praise, do you just not really care for and why? You can say it's "overrated" if you'd like, but mine is more "under-impressed." For me, it's the RASS. I've smoked different years with different box codes and haven't seen that have really done it for me. I like the RA flavor profile, but I've just never really had a RASS and thought "wow, this really deserves the praise." What do you all think? Tyler 1
Popular Post treberty Posted August 30, 2015 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2015 Cohibas. All of them. Not that they are not good. They are just too expensive compared to other cigars that I enjoy just as much. 7
Sophistic Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Partagas & Ramon Allones, both lines are too earthy & peppery 1
Boosted Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 For me, it's PSD4 and Rass. I love 898, Sp2, lusis, rag, and RA Superiores though. Out of at least 30 plus cigars of each, I've had maybe 1 or 2 that were stellar. The rest were just whatever. 1

dangolf18 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Not a fan of the JL & SLR line. Also, current production Montecristo No.2 just don't do it for me.
Rye Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Juan Lopez really grinds my gears. Just something about that profile. The only reason I've ever gotten a blind tasting cigar correct was because it had "a certain something I just don't like" 1
Smallclub Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Montecristo Edmundo (but I love the Petit Edmundo); Siglo II; not a fan of the RASS either…
NSXCIGAR Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Plenty. I put them in the "never had a good one" category and keep thinking there's something wrong with me but after 18+ years of smoking CCs I know it can't be. RASS is the big one. I've smoked probably 75 sticks over 18 years and never once was impressed. Love RASCC though. RASS are just bland to me. PSD4 is another, at least since around 98-99. People may remember how powerful that cigar used to be before the change to a milder blend. Had several from 95-97 that just blew me away. None in the modern era have done so, however. Love Montecristo generally but I've honestly never had a good #2. And that goes way back to the late 90s. Always seem to have good results with the rest of the lineup though. I'd say I've never had a great CoRo. Decent ones, yes, but never great and most just lackluster. Can't remember a terrific Siglo either. Only good Cohibas I've had are Lanceros, CoEsp, Exquisitos or Panatelas. Also, Party P2 has been consistent disappointment for me. Never even had one I'd call good. Even from Rob. And I've been trying them since they came out. Never had a good Mag46 either. Been trying those for years including an LUB box this year. I did have an LUB Upmann #2 that was decent however. 1
joeboxer Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 HdM Epicure no 2. Never had one I truly enjoyed. Something has always been off about the profile of each one I have smoked. Now epicure no 1s are a whole different story!
SCgarman Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Cohiba- Simply not worth the big money. It just doesn't deliver for the price. Rey Del Mundo- Choix Supreme- flavorless, very disappointed in the box of these. Juan Lopez #1 Have a 2005 box, many are tent poles. The ones that do draw are very one dimensional. Still love my RASS. But I like them on the younger side. 5 years of age and they become a bit too mellow for me.
Lotusguy Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Since this thread or a slight variation of it shows up every 6 months or so, I would suggest to the mods to make it a sticky topic.
DoubleDD Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Well let's start with my arch nemesis the Cohiba Esplendido, no matter how many times I try them they have had construction issues and the taste just isn't for me, they are bland. I'd much rather have a Sir Winston. I have kept giving them a try but now I've given up. Second is a huge favorite around here, the Connie 1. I just haven't had a good one I guess. Every one I had was like smoking paper. I'll take a JLo 2 any day over them. It is the only Upmann I don't get.
JohnS Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Bolivar - I don't know why, the general flavour profile doesn't do it for me. Although, I won't give up trying, Some BBF's (thanks Muzz for the split) I've had have been good and I had a Bolivar Tubo No.1 last week during a Sydney get together which have been slightly 'creamy' and less 'Earthy', which I quite liked. 1
earthson Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Juan Lopez really grinds my gears. Just something about that profile. I'll second that. I've had JL #2 and PC and they were all lackluster. Tasted to me like a short filler cheapie. The PC I had had 5 years with decent construction and attractive wrappers, so I think they're just not for me. Would love to throw LGC in there, as well. Have always loved and worshiped the RASS.
kuma Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Paratgas - ; shorts, PSD4. neve went any further than these so I can't comment on the other lines. maybe I needed to let them sit longer in the humi. but even when I have bought them aboard nothing to write home about.
PapaDisco Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I'm another vote for Cohiba. I've had luck with a cab of Siglo IV (enough to keep me trying the marca), and Siglo VI tubo's from time to time, but mostly I don't find the flavor profile to grab me in any way. The Coro in particular seems to consistently taste (to me) of fresh grass and that's it. Such a mystery!
Fuzz Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Anything Bolivar. I have only had one Bolivar in the last 5 years that I've actually enjoyed.
dvickery Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I know what size cigars I like ... I have just never "got" the pyramides Churchill robusto size cigars . Happy to smoke 42rg cigars the rest of my life Derrek 1
