I am not sure where the year has gone.....but I woke up today to the realisation that the first work week of August is upon me shead.gif

Within the next few weeks winter will be behind me (thank God) and two of my loves will be nearing their commencement.....NFL and EPL

The off-season for both codes is one of hope. Let us know how your team (or teams) are stacking up for the upcoming season.

Tampa bay Buccaneers

Huge hope that new Quarter back Jameis Winston provides the leadership and direction to spark the Bucs from motherless last place.

Reality is that first year QB's generally are not standouts (RGIII a recent exception). Bucs have a decent receiving corps, improving secondary, better depth....but O line holes and a questionable running game.

6-10 for the season.

Manchester City

I have low hopes for City this year where they will be battling for 4th spot.

It is never a great start when manager Manuel Pellegrini is being openly shown the door. Last year of his contract and Pep G is the anointed one if he wants the Job next year. Does wonders for team harmony and focus this year.

So much will ride on Aguero staying fit and playing the majority of games. A front 3 of Aguero, Bony, Sterling ...quite doesn't put the fear of God in any of the big teams. The back 4 however are our greatest problem.

4th for the season

Give us a wrap up on your teams party.gif

Washington Redskins

RG III will annoy the writers at The Washington Post. They will write incessantly about him because it's too depressing to talk about the "win" - loss ratio.

Tears and the Rending of Garments for the season

Sorry Prez, but the Carolina Panthers are taking the NFC South championship for the 3rd year in a row. Jameis will be a solid QB but will have to go through his rookie adjustment period. Bucs should be able to beat out the Falcons for last place though.

Go Dallas Cowboys and of course Dallas Cowgirls (cheerleaders) gimme a "H" gimme a "O" gimme a "T" whats that

spell HHHOOOOTTTT.........also let us not forget that it is almost the start of Sumo wrestling in Japan. I get NHK

Japan TV and it is a blast to watch.

On the EU side of the pond maybe Messi and the boys from Spain (Barcelona) can win it one mo time!

Spurs - with our annual preseason mantra "this will finally be our year"

The Miami Dolphins are looking to make a big statement this year. With offseason pickups on offense and defense and Ryan Tannehill getting a bit more comfortable running the offense they should produce a winning record and maybe even get to the big game. Suh was a big defensive pickup from Detroit that should make the defense fun to watch. A few reliable targets were also picked up with Jordan Cameron at TE and Kenny Stills at WR. The Dolphins always seem to loose it at the end of the season or start slow, they also always seem to accomplish mediocrity with 8-8 seasons so this year should be a great contrast and produce a winning record. With new stadium renovations and the revival of the 1966 inaugural uniforms this season should be very interesting for Dolphins fans as big things are expected. Hey it could be worse I could be a Redskins fan last season was a disaster with the QB situation and RGIII not being healthy. Also not too sure what to expect as far as leadership from Winston as he has a hard time keeping it together and behaving off the field.

Go vikings!

On the college fcs level my hometown NDSU bison should be competing for a fifth straight national title.

Go Vikings! I have confidence that if Teddy can avoid the sophomore slump, then we will challenge (challenge, not necessarily win) for the division. I think the ceiling is very high for this team.

Same goes for my Gunners. Big win today over Chelsea. Cech makes us an instant challenger for the league title. With all the talent on the team, I'm hoping for a special season. Still hoping we land Benzema as I'm not sure Giroud can be quality enough all season.

My 49ers surprise most of the NFL by bouncing back with a 9-7 season led by an impressive d-line but fail to make the playoffs with Seattle and St. Louis taking the division and wild card.

just what rg3 needs first up. a date with suh!

usual preseason crap with rg3. day one - one reporter says same problems, hopeless, throwing incompletions etc. another says he looks brilliant. didn't miss a pass. seems that the world has divided and nothing this kid does will change opinions. are there higher expectations on any sportsman these days?

nice to finally have a competent GM, though curious to pick up galette after being so careful with no one with character issues. but scott M, the GM, did say that they had spoken to 100's of people and were very happy with him. will make a great tandem with kerrigan (unless the movie career takes off - sharknado 3? seriously?).

but whatever happens with galette, he has provided the quote of the year. "i'm just happy to be with a functional organisation". and apparently he was not taking the piss?? i hit the floor laughing,

now, if only we could get rid of gruden.

gunners? three trophies already (yes, all largely useless but better winning than not). loved seeing the grubby one toss his losers' medal to the crowd. what a cracking goal by the ox. the gunners should challenge but hard to see chelski falling short. still 30 days of the transfer period to go. i reckon so much could change in that. as usual, we have bought 65 15-year-olds who are french, super talented, injury-prone and may never be heard from again. i did love that kid adelaide, playing with de brynes? (the bloke with the fifty mill price tag) in the way he did. for me, we desperately need one more good striker. love benzema but believe it when i see it.

Redskins defense should be vastly improved. Even if Galette gets suspended for some games. Their defensive line is vastly improved. Improvement also in the defensive backfied. How could you not improve after last year.

How fast the rook offensive lineman catches on is how the offensive line will be measured. He is getting beat like a drum early in camp by Kerrigan. sad.png But I guess that is to be expected. Especially early on.

As for RG3, if he keeps his mouth shut and actually improves then the offense will improve. The rookie they drafted to return kicks and also fill in at receiver should help one of the worst special teams in the league.

I am glad to see Gruden getting his own coaches and the addition of the new offensive line coach and the quarterback coach is are moves in the right direction.

Lots of if's! At this point if they can double their wins from last year or somehow get to 8-8 I would be happy. :lol3:

Hoping for a much better season from Newcastle United in the Premier League, it was an extremely embarrassing and unenjoyable last season!

Would be chuffed with a top half finish, but with a new manager, new back room staff and new signings I'm not expecting miracles, I just want a few more goals and/or wins!

Colts are going for broke this year, picking up Andre Johnson and Frank Gore. Offense should be explosive. Defense still can't stop anyone. Patriots appear to have taken a step back, at least defensively. Not sure it will matter. Neither game last year was close. This year's regular season matchup will be Brady's first game back, so who knows how that will play out, other than being the most overhyped regular season game ever. Prediction: Colts will win a garbage division, lose to NE in the playoffs.

Arsenal are off to a good start, picking up the Community Shield yesterday. Adding Cech this summer certainly helps, but they still lack depth in key spots. Would have liked to see another striker come in, and it could still happen. Wenger flat out denied any possibility of Benzema coming, so who knows. As currently constructed, their first team could compete with anyone on any given day. They'll drop enough points to not be a serious threat for the PL. Have to think Chelsea/City have the best look at the title this year. Arsenal 3rd.

Great days are ahead!! Go Vikes! I like the young and talented players we have on both sides of the ball.....and after a miserable campaign last year for my beloved Reds. I feel far better this year about our pick ups over the summer. Much more coherent approach this summer as opposed to last summer. We will have a much improved midfield with good offensive options and far better defending and holding players where we were very vulnerable last year. Attacking, we've done well given we are not in the CL. Hopefully Mignolet will be consistent over the whole season and we have a good anchor in the center with Skertel. If we can pick up another left back that will be helpful to our campaign. With the Sterling fiasco behind us and with the pick ups over the summer I think we can challenge for a top four position.

I'll be happy if Rangers can make it back to the Scottish Premier League. Preferably without any more scandal for the long-suffering fans.

I am glad to see Gruden getting his own coaches and the addition of the new offensive line coach and the quarterback coach is are moves in the right direction.

offensive line and QB coach is very positive but why the new defensive coach, especially with some of the talent out there? why a guy who last went 0-16 instead of someone like wade phillips?

it seems clear that there is no way gruden and rg3 can continue to co-exist. i suspect we'll eventually lose both. gruden seems unwilling or incapable or attempting to tailor the offense to suit rg3. which makes no sense to me at all. rg3 might have issues but why not work with him to get the best out of him. gruden seems to think rg3 has to become a completely different QB - a lot easier said.

i'd be very happy to wake up and read that gruden was gone. rather have winnie the poo.

49ers to have a better year this year and hayne to make the reserves team

I'm just not sure what to make of the squad Van Gaal is putting together for my beloved Red Devils. I like some of the offensive additions and pushing Rooney back up too, but the center backs... I like jones but smalling and Evans just don't seem to have the smarts needed for that position. I don't see a deep run in the CL, but they should make a good fight for the league.

Detroit Lions Super Bowl victory!!!!!!-'

Oh yeah!!!! Not a chance though with GB still the favorite but I like the Lions to do a lot better this year especially if Calvin can stay healthy.

rodgers stays healthy and you have to think that, provided they can get past the glorious skins, they will go very close.
