Popular Post El Presidente Posted June 3, 2015 Popular Post Posted June 3, 2015 I still have about 8 hours flying time to go finishing with a 90 minute Lufthansa flight from Munich to Naples. Tapping this out from Etihad First Class heading towards Munich. Now...I would love to fly first class all the time...but this was a special deal that came my way $5500 USD Oz-Naples-Amsterdam-London-Oz in first or Business. Way too good a deal to knock back I have flown Etihad Business Class a few times and it is excellent. First class is just a little better with private suites, chef etc. Natasha looked after me on this flight and she was fantastic being both engaging and 100% focused on making sure you are well looked after. I like Etihad staff. They don't run and hide once in the air and they are not as stuck up as some. The food is restaurant quality. The wine list brilliant Downing a 95 glass of Bollinger now. Large flat screen TV, and the most comfortable airline bed I have ever experienced. The crew come and make your bed for you. You have nice PJ's as well + slippers. By the way I didn't use them.........and apparently sleeping naked is not considered good Etihad protocol Getting closer to Italy! Rob Natasha 5
JohnS Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Oh wow...Rob, that's the type of flight I'd like to catch! I've heard that even if provided a bed in first-class like that it's still hard to sleep. How did you go with the 'shuteye'?
Boosted Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Damn Rob, I feel bad for you and the torture you're enduring for your work! It's a tough job, but someone has to do it! Thanks for the photos and the update.

Slept like a baby for 6 hours This is the inaugural flight of the 789 Dreamliner Brisbane Abu Dhabi service. I couldn't hear the engines at all.
Ken Gargett Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 how is that every time you go anywhere, you have the big spiel about how you normally don't fly business or first or in the cockpit but on this occasion.... krudd didn't fly first as much as you. no wonder the bushidos are $350 each! 3

PapaDisco Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Slept like a baby for 6 hours This is the inaugural flight of the 789 Dreamliner Brisbane Abu Dhabi service. I couldn't hear the engines at all. I find the Dreamliner much, much easier to sleep on because of the lower cabin altitude and higher level of humidification. A Dreamliner will be 6,000' or below, whereas an older 747 could have a cabin altitude as high as 9,000' and no humidification. I always had a hard time sleeping for more than an hour on a 747, but the Dreamliners I find I can snooze away.
OZCUBAN Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 good stuff Rob once you have that level of service it would be hard to go back to cattle class

Good stuff. Its behind the wing where the noise is. Lucky for you that's down the back where the folks are enjoying the 'fine' economy service! Would love to see Etihads new Residence on the A380. Looks sharp.
El Presidente Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Did you wear the luxurious in flight Jami's I don't do Jami's
Guest rob Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Both trips Rob and I have made to Cuba have been economy there and back. Last November we shared the struggle of a straight 36 hour non stop journey of flights and airports from Havana to Brisbane. The only thing that kept us sane was 5 hours courtesy of his membership to the LAX Qantas lounge. I'm glad to see him living large this time around. Enjoy it amigo.
oliverdst Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Smoking cubans in 1st class going from Australia to Naples are allowed. What did you have?
El Presidente Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Smoking cubans in 1st class going from Australia to Naples are allowed. What did you have? If it were allowed...it screams Double Corona. I is a 30 hour trip so HDM DC, VR DA, Lusi, Punch DC, Ramon Allones Gigantes . In that order.
Warren Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 It's nice that you have your own little room and all but probably still not a good idea to go commando or cook in your room, you know what usually happens. I see the bed came with the optional bondage pack. 1
habanolover Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Rob, are you secretly Bond...James Bond?? Hell of a way to travel my friend!
Stanislaw Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I had never flown first class before until this past March when my job "had to" give me a first class seat on British Airways because they insisted I work as soon as I touched down in london... it has scarred me for life... it's the ONLY way any human should fly if on a plane for more than 6 hours and I am grumpy as all hell when I'm back in coach trying to sleep upright in my seat when I know people are flat on their backs in first class... at least I still have my complimentary eye mask and the memories, ahh the memories... seriously, so many hours on a plane... EVERYONE should be in first class...
Joker Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 If you work hard why not reward yourself Enjoy PS: Make sure you get Di some lovely Italian shoes to appease her!! 1
Mr.T Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Nice!! Good to live large like that when you can. And that is a great deal....
