El Presidente
I had a gent shoot me a question as tot he true weight of Partagas Shorts after his own measurements were in stark contrast to the Habanos stated standard of 7.46 kilos per 1000 cigars. If you have the time, weigh your Partagas shorts for me and post the results here. Boxes or cabs as opposed to singles please. If you can, note the box date and how long you have stored them and at what RH. Cheers! Rob
Maestroso
For a "true weight" you could have used a medical scale from that pharmacy where you went on a post-shot impulsive shopping spree. See if there's one on sale next time.
Smallclub
In my "books", all the minutos weigh 7g, with the exception of the Short which is 7.46g.

Shikar
I believe the humidity of storage at extremes will affect weight of the tobacco, otherwise most other factors should be stable ie ring gauge and length. Yup. That's humidity issues is nit picking. Regards.

avaldes
Why would Shorts have a different weight than other minutos?

topdiesel
I've got to imagine that they are a little more damp when being rolled and weighed in the factories. Whenever I get a fresh custom it feels a little heavier than a similar sized stick. Maybe that is just my imagination.

If I had to venture a guess, I would say a touch more seco as per guidelines. I hope somebody who has the true answer chimes in. Interesting question. Scroats
I'd be very interested in how much weight a stick sheds when it dries out. Anyone want to intentionally dry out some party shorts? Lol. Actually might take some cheap sticks I have and try it. I'd have to fridge them to get the moisture out, it stays in the 50s in my place.

Water is heavier than tobacco. That could be a reason why Habanos stated weight is higher than what most people weighing their own smokes are finding. That could be a reason why Habanos stated weight is higher than what most people weighing their own smokes are finding. If I am not mistaken, there are currently 4 minutos in regular production. Bolivar CJ, SCDLH EP, RASCC and the Short. None are rolled using tobacco grown from only one specific farm and none are rolled exclusively in one factory. How would it be possible to control water content in only the Partagas Short, but not in the others? The Short is suppose to be heavier. Extra humidity only found in the Short is illogical. Reading your quoted response leads me to believe that we are possibly speaking about different things though. Water content is certainly a factor in an individual cigar, but the question, that I believed you were answering, was why the Short is heavier than other minutos as per HSA guidelines. Excuse me if I misunderstood your post.
