Puff.com forum has been down for many days. Heard a rumor on /r/ that the guy forgot to renew his domain. Anyone here know anything? I had a few discussions / potential trades going on, on that board . . .

Fellow Puffers, It's beginning to look as though our site owner isn't going to be re-launching Puff. While heartbreaking, especially for me, it's completely beyond my control. Instead, we've created an alternative site! Cigarbum.com is our new refuge. It will be run with all the familiar stuff we loved at Puff, without much of the stuff we didn't. The biggest thing that will continue is the strong, virtually unique sense of community we fostered there. It will be a place to tie up loose ends; complete unfinished business left dangling by Puff. Contests and other events may be freely posted and there will be no getting fussed at for references to Puff. Please bear with us, as it's going to be very "bare-bones" in the beginning. We launched it in this state, just so we could get something up and running for you to be able to continue your various efforts. Don't worry about posting in the wrong forum for the time being. Heck, there's ONLY one forum for now, LOL! So, we invite you all to join us there and continue the party!

That's really sad to see, I got a lot of helpful advice and met some great people over there. Perhaps something will change in the future.

Thank you all for that info. I do (or did) belong to Puff.com too. Acceptance. The perfect tool to deal with unfortunate events beyond our control...

Wow. Absolutely catastrophic loss of a very, very valuable knowledge base. I wonder if some tech geek out there can at least revive the past contents, by hook or by crook? If an archive exists or something? Going to jump on the new site now.

Good to.hear. I couldn't stand the idiot that bought all of the sites for the merge as it was clear the community was being sold for his financial gain and nothing more. They banned numerous long standing members for calling them out on the move.

Friend of might got a life time ban from Puff for mentioning a different cigar forum... Get this .. In a PM, yeah you heard that right. Retarded. Of course the community was not to blame.

I used to look to the cigar review database before it was purchased, overseen by Puff. Seemed to go downhill with the Puff name and BOY were those video ads annoying!

I'm glad to see it gone! I couldn't stand it as a forum or most of the know-it-all, arrogant pricks there either. It really doesn't surprise me that it's gone and while it might not be gone for the reasons I disliked it for, it does show me yet again in this life, that good, quality things usually survive the rough patches while the **** will sink to the bottom.

I've really been fortunate to find this forum as I don't think there's a forum out on the net that even comes close to the maturity and composure of this forum, not to mention the info and experience here that is accessible. I couldn't stomach Puff.com long enough to even care whether I got my post count up to be able to be let into the super-secret, ultra-exclusive habanos forum over there! Pffffftt! What a joke, and while I'm sure there are plenty here who were also members there, please don't misconstrue this as me attacking you. I highly doubt that any of the problem-children over there are active members here as that kind of crap isn't tolerated long here as I've seen. I'm just saying it's nice to be able to discuss the cigars I love here, and much more often, just read through threads about them than have to suck up to people I can't stand and talk about cigars I don't buy nor like for 90 posts just to be able to get onto a forum where you can. Good riddance to the place!

Yes, experience has taught us that proper moderation is the KEY to a successful forum. The mods here seem to have a good handle on things. Great place to be!

^this!

Moderation is key, and though it might seem like an easy thing to do it's incredibly time consuming as the very best thing you can do is just be on the community all the time. And, of course, you get that lovely IT job of random questions/issues at any hour of any day.

I was on club stogie before puff took it and some others over. Some guys then started cigar asylum but I never spent enough time there to get "in" with the crowd!

Found this place last year and there is nothing better for me out there!

Yeah, I got that email. Kind of weird since I don't think I ever signed up. Turns out they bought a few other forums and combined all the content, members, etc....

Lots of drama now.

Good luck to them! Hope it becomes a good source of information to cigar smokers the world over.

I got the email, while I NEVER SIGNED UP there. Then I guess they purchase potential customers lists from others forums or vendors.
