JohnnyO Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Once again the island is speculating the dudes whereabouts. Hasn't made a public appearance since January 2014. Hasn't written any "Reflexiones" articles in Granma newspaper for quite some time. There was a presidential gathering for ALBA in the 1st week of December in Havana and he did not meet with any of the Presidents. The "5 Heroes" (spies released 12/17/14) have not had a meeting or taken a picture with him....... ruh-roh. It seems like they are looking for a symbolic date for him to die. January 28 would be perfect right? Jose Marti's birthdate. We'll just keep marinating him until then. Ohhhh but there's a problem with that. Sen Kerry and his cronies are coming Jan 21-22. What will they do? John
LordAnubis Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) He's probably just in meetings revitalising Trinidad and smaller ring gauge cigars... that's probably where he is Edited January 9, 2015 by LordAnubis Removed stuff no longer relevant :P 4
Ryan Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 There has been a lot of speculation in the last day or two regarding Fidel's demise. At least some of it probably has to do with Fidel Castro Odinga, son of Kenya's opposition leader, dying a couple of days ago. Rumours can spread on the internet. Certainly the more famous Fidel has been very quiet for a while though. Edit. Although oddly, it's in a news report about the death of Fidel Castro Odinga that I see that Venezuela is reporting that the Cuban government is calling for an international press conference today. https://www.capitalfm.co.ke/news/2015/01/confusion-as-cubas-castro-mourned-instead-of-kenyas-fidel/ So you never know. It could be to clear up confusion, or it could be to make an actual announcement..or it could be that wi-fi hotspots are to be allowed, officially.
Puros Y Vino Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 My Cuban friend here believes he's been dead for a few years. He doesn't have any inside information mind you just a "feeling".

alloy Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Don't see anything on this in the Washington Post, Miami Herald or Yahoo yet. Anyplace else have this news?
JohnnyO Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 Miami El Nuevo Herald, the Spanish version of Miami Herald
topdiesel Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Fun transition of thread titles. Fidel throws the best parties, but he really isn't very chatty.
Popular Post Baldy Posted January 9, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 9, 2015 Rumors of Fidel's passing have been circulating since 1959. One of these days it'll be correct. BTW - Was in Cuba last week and Fidel never came to greet me.....conclusion? Fidel's dead. 7
mikek Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I heard he was in Graceland with Elvis ! What would it have been like if Che got the drop on him and he ran the country?
JohnS Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 He's 88 and at that age I'm afraid all you need is one turn in your health and you are struggling to do the 'everyday' things. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear of his passing in 2015.

JohnS Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 It's amazing how many famous celebrities have lived to their 80's and 90's and enjoyed cigars. Winston Churchill, Groucho Marx, Milton Berle, George Burns for starters. Bob Hawke, Australia's ex-Prime Minister is going strong at 85 and he loves his daily cigars! Fidel quit cigars in 1985 if I recall correctly? 1
nick2021 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 He shouldn't have quit smoking or perhaps he's a "closet smoker" 1

Fidel quit cigars in 1985 if I recall correctly? Not to mention loves downing beers at 11am at the cricket (still!). Lots of my work colleagues wish old Bob would have carked it back in 1989, so there are parallels with Fidel!
FLB03TT Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 The folks at Madame Tussaud's are close to finishing up their work. Should hear of his "official" passing soon.
ogus Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 That will leave only one major communist leader in the western hemisphere
FLB03TT Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 That will leave only one major communist leader in the western hemisphere That's a shame.

acidmase Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Doesn't anyone think this is weird speaking about someone dying? lol Okay lets talk to Rob and start a death pool while were at it lol..... First one to get the closest year and month and date to his death wins a super collectable ancient humidor lmfao jk jk jk
Baldy Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Cuba does this every once in a while. Who knows what the truth is. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-31108131
TiminBC Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 When I was in Havana I walked by a Castro look a like dressed in green army fatigues. Given how the CIA supposedly tried to assassinate him I assumed it was just a double or inpersonator. Steady work unless someone is trying to kill you.
