I haven't seen or tasted the new Trinidad Vigia as yet. Hasn't hit our shores.

For those that have tasted them, can you fill us in on your experience, flavour profile etc of this petit Robusto? A pic maybe as well.

Much appreciated party.gif

Just smoked one. Not bad at all. Still young and fresh off the boat but it appears the blend is good. Nice wrappers and construction. Enjoyed the vitola more than I expected. Box worthy for me.

Tom says they've got them at the LCDH Toronto, and I was supposed to pop in there last weekend to pick a few up but my scheduling changed. Looking forward to getting some soon to give them a go.

Lord knows that Trinidad badly needs some love and a bit of a boost, but I don't think Trinidad fans have many high hopes (considering H S.A.'s past actions on the Robustos T and the Robusto Extras, as well as the extremely sub-par production quality in recent years).

Pricing is good? Stop it! Its a tiny, fat cigar (oh joy) for two Jacksons!!

Keeping in mind canadian taxes and compare to what the Robusto were selling here, yes!

I tried a couple of these in Havana in Nov. and have had a couple since then. As noted above, they are available at LCDH in both Toronto and Montreal. An excellent cigar reminiscent of some great boxes of Robusto T's that I have had in the past. My only questions is why discontinue the Robusto T and then replace it with a short and stubby,

Can't wait to taste! rolleyes.gif I also wonder about those tubos on this new release when those will appear along with available boxes.

Anyone know what the price is on the island?

I'd like to know this as well - hoping to pick up a box or 2 when I'm there in Feb.

Well, Rob has been saying that Trinis for a long time are not worth the coin. Let's hope at least during the release Vigias are better than his brothers.

Why did Habanos not just keep the Robusto T? thinking.gif . Practically the same cigar.....

Perhaps so they can charge the same amount for adding less tobacco

The math would suggest otherwise. Looking at volume of a cylinder ...the vigia is larger.

Noted.

Now I'm confused...

(nice that it's larger, though! )

I'm a data ***** and my latest project is comparing rg vs length (perhaps even weight) to see how they all affect smoke duration. And I'm very curious if this is going to be just a shorter Robo-T or what..

The tobacco going into Trinidad didn't cost Cuba any more or less than the tobacco going into Cuaba, Monte or RG. Trinidad supposedly failed because due to the pricing it was competing with Cohiba, and losing. They have to fiddle the number and statistics around to lower the price, it's probably bit being over cynical to think that the deletions and new releases for Trinidad is just an exercise in smoke and mirrors.

I think they did it to create a cigar that cohiba could not draw sales from.

The Reyes is similar to the siglo 1

The coloniales is similar to a siglo 2/3

The robusto competed with the robusto

The robusto extra with the siglo 6

The Fundadores with the Lancero

But, now the vigia does not have a major competitor in the premium spectrum. If people want a short and stubby they buy this, nothing else.
