madandana Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Received this stick at the opening night at Partagas. It's a beautiful cigar. Smooth, oily rapper, aromas as if I stuck my face into a bundle of fresh tobacco. It's almost to pretty to burn. Paired it with a peppermint Martini. I thought it might over power the smoke but it didn't, it actually cleansed the palate so I got a fresh start before each draw. Prelite draw was surprisingly easy almost thought oddly easy. First few draws very smooth, slight pepper, cedar, leather, is that a hint of cherry? Not sure. Second 3rd, Hints of cherry gone, still very smooth, getting a little spicier, perfect burn. Loving this stick. Final 3rd. More pepper,I think the cherry is back. Still smooth, lots of leather (Jacket leather not saddle leather). Peppermint Martini almost gone. After taste is definitely cherry with a hint of cedar. Starting to spill ashes.... Martinis taking hold (not my first of the evening:). This was a great smoking experience. A great cigar, sitting with my wife by the fire and a great cocktail, relaxing Saturday night. Also first time using my Hotel National ash tray (wish I'd bought the bigger one). 2
Ginseng Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Thank you for that review. I've never had a WC but the cherry notes caught my interest. And I love your ashtray! Gotta get one someday. Wilkey
topdiesel Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Great review. I picked up a box of 10 a couple years ago and tried one fresh. it was really harsh and bitter. Smoked another one a week ago with low expectations and got a lot of sweet and sour cherry. It was a very pleasant surprise. Wilkey, If you like cherry, you might have to let them rest a little while. Or perhaps I just had a bad one a couple years ago.
Maplepie Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Very nice review, Badanananana!! Good cherry bombs - especially when given 2 years of rest. Very nice paired with the Red Stagg Bourbon. Thank you for that review. I've never had a WC but the cherry notes caught my interest. And I love your ashtray! Gotta get one someday. Wilkey They should. Ginseng... Don't let the ludicrous ring gauge turn you off. These are quite a surprise in the overall terrible selections of Romeo y Julieta (for me, anyway). These cannot be compared to the Petit or [gagging] Short Churchill.
Optic101 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Nice review and pictures. Like the cherry in an Ex4. Should try the wide churchill one day.
mikek Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Good review, got A box of 10 early last year the first one I didn't care for. I let them sit for about 6 months, and they were great. Might have to spring for another 10 or more. At this time I think it is one of my favorite RJ's.

The Ex4 is a sentimental favorite of mine. I smoked them quite regularly some 15 years ago but we just lost our way. Same with the Churchill proper. They went through such a poor period (as did the HdM Double Coronas) that it just wasn't worth it for quite a while. Maybe it's time to revisit. Wilkey
Maplepie Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Okay, okay. You guys have convinced me. Wide Churchill it is. Can always shoot me a PM. I'll send you one with some decent age on it (think my box was a DIC '12. Need to check...)
Ginseng Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Thanks, Maple. I just may take you up on it. Regards, Wilkey
Shikar Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Love this and the Ex4 in the line up. They have been spot on. Smooth sweet leather tobacco. Every one of them and that's my review. Regards.
Habana Mike Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Nice review Mike. I really enjoy these as well. Just reloaded matter of fact
