Just saw a tv ad for Guinness Blonde American Lager.

That's it, the world is ending soon.

I've got no issue with capitalism but was this necessary?

Craft beers here are getting phenomenal in taste and popularity and all the big brewers are trying to cash in. Personally I don't drink any giant brewery beer unless it's a hefeweizen or bock beer imported from Germany. Other than that my first choice is small brewery beer like Odell Brewing Company etc. WWII ruined American Beer for many years as brewers were limited for ingredients due to rationing. After wards people for some odd reason liked the new Homogenized product and home brewing was illegal until Carter lifted the ban. Since then American beers have slowly gotten better and really exploded over the last 10yrs in popularity. It's got the big boys creating new beers to try and hang onto their market share.

Good video to watch the battle for survival of these emerging brewers.

You know, ever since I found this:

http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/hey-vegans-there-may-be-fish-bladder-in-your-guinness-2001644/?no-ist=

and tasted this:

I've realized that success has spoiled Guinness.

Now, I've never had a pint in a pub in Ireland, but call me old-fashioned: fish bladder? Really???

On a brighter note, it's that time of year when this:

is available in my neighborhood. Now THAT is a good lager!

If it's not broke don't fix it

Pandering to the masses to try and maintain their market share. Do what you know and do it WELL. Forget this American lager [expletive of your choice]. Bad move by Guinness.

potty.gif That's what happen when you have marketing people running the business. Great, sell-out to grab 1% of the market share and turn-off the regular 99% of loyal customers.potty.gif

I understand the hate. However, I'll try it first and then let you know how I feel about it. Could be the worse thing to even hit the supermaket shelf or could be a decent brew. Palate shall tell :)

Man, you guys are fired up! I guess you guys hated *New Coke* too!

I don't really drink beer, but I enjoy a good Guinness. Gotta be on tap though. In cans tastes horrible.
