Guest rob Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Smoking the same cigar or two, with no change in your rotation, is like eating the same meal every single day. I like variety in my meals for the pleasure it brings, not just fuel / need.

TheDistrictJP Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Over time I see myself gravitating towards a single marca, but different in a handful of vitolas that seem appropriate for different situations. So, if I feel like a minute it will be a short, if it's a pyramid, it's a DP2, etc.
Jeremy Festa Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 When it comes to smoking cigars, I am a bit of a *****. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DWC Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Interesting topic but I don't think we'll get a true representation of what the cigar smoking community is really like by looking at the answers of us here on this forum. Probably not too many monogamous smokers in here. From all the previous answers, it seems most of us are promiscuous dogs. What need would a truly monogamous smoker have for a forum like this? I too started out by exploring, looking for the one cigar I would be happy with all the time, but soon found out what most of you already know, that variety is the spice of life, especially when it comes to cigars. That's one of the reasons I'm here. To learn about all the different marcas and vitolas that I didn't know I couldn't live without. -Dan

I would of shot for the stars if I were him. The white house humidor would of been so bloated with every kind of marcas and vitolas. They would of needed Ray to come in and design a whole new room. Maybe cigars were just so amazing back then it was worth having a monogamous relationship with your cigars. 2

He had free reign to get any smoke he wanted. Why not grab a wide array of smokes? Maybe 600 H. Upmann Petit Upmanns (instead of 1200) and then 600 of the rest. Hell, he's the leader of the free world. Why stop at 1200? If it's me I'm buying 5,000. 1

Not trying to be harsh here, but your first mistake lies in that you assume JFK had taste and was intellectually curious about anything that didn't directly serve his ambitions. I don't know whether he was or not but most people assume famous, rich and idolized people know best than us laymen. As is so often pointed out, having the means is NOT in direct relation to making wise decisions. Now, in Kennedy's defence, he assumed the embargo would last only a while and that sooner or later Cuba's regime would fail and CCs would be available again in the US. If my memory is correct, he actually was keen on only a thousand sticks but Salinger secured 200 hundred more, having been told to haul in all he could find...

From what I can ascertain that's about how long they'd have lasted him. Guess JFK was optimistic about how long the embargo would last. Unfortunately, given his untimely demise that's actually all the cigars he needed for a lifetime.
bwgan Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Crikey, the same cigar everytime, how boring! I couldnt choose a single vitola to smoke, let alone a single marque/vitola. Different cigars meet different needs of the moment.... 1
DrunkenMonkey Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Sometimes when I'm smoking a bolivar petite corona I think I could be happy just smoking those forever, but it only occurs to me while I'm smoking it. When I think about all the other great cigars, that's just ridiculous.
cigcars Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Crikey, the same cigar everytime, how boring! I couldnt choose a single vitola to smoke, let alone a single marque/vitola. Different cigars meet different needs of the moment.... Here Here!
Maplepie Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I used to only smoke Cohiba Siglo IIIs. Didn't know any Cuban cigar outside of Cohiba. Didn't know that cigars could differ as they were 'all just tobacco'. What blissful ignorance that was. What the hell was I thinking accepting those fivers of Punch SS 2s...
topdiesel Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 This is a tough one. I am somewhat brand monogamous I suppose. I would say that eight out of 10 smokes are Bolivar. I love the brand. I enjoy other smokes, but a good Boli is my go to.
PigFish Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I could be quite easily, but how would my favorite vendor afford this great website? On the other hand, Tabacuba keeps one guessing as to where the best tobacco amongst all the models will be hidden. Sometimes even your favorite cigar is going to be mediocre. Do you torture yourself by buying them until they are good again, or just pic up a different cigar? If there were still a range of great coronas, I could see myself smoking nothing but coronas and changing the brand name from box to box. As is it, I still often kill a whole box of cigars at a time, sometimes not getting something different for 25 cigars. Lets just say I am monogamous with a rather high frequency of divorce! -Piggy
trader1974 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I've narrowed the list to my top 5 or so favorites. But I still have to add something new here and there just to make sure I got it right. I would have a real hard time settling on just one cigar.
Blackham Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I only smoke cigars gifted by generous people on FOH
Smiley Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Who among you would categorise yourself as "Cigar Monogamists" and if so.....what is your partner of choice? Not me!I think that a part of the charm is to explore different brands and vitolas....and vintages if possible. This post was beamed up by Scotty...
JohnS Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I also enjoy variety, but if there is one cigar I have consistently enjoyed this year it would have to be the Cohiba Piramides Extra. Still, I concur with others..."variety is the spice of life!"
Vortigan Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 No,it'd be impossible to remain faithful to just one or even two specific cigars. But if I had to choose a single marque from which I could only purchase from then it'd be Bolivar, without hesitation.
