I purchased a box in Cuba when they were first released for $65 CUC, since then I've acquired another box from a local botl for a substantially larger amount... Now, I see boxes selling for upwards of $350.00!

What are your thoughts on the El Rey Del Mundo Infantes? Would you spend $250 - $300.00 to get your hands on a box of this regional release, and would you smoke them or put them away?

For those of us able to get to Cuba relatively quick and cheap (ie Canadians) Infantes are a no brainer. They smoke very well. Those in the US, Europe or Asia are paying the price set by importers for this "HTF" RE. The first Cuban RE, the LGC Deliciosos jars fetch over $1000+/jar and are truly limited. I think people are hoping that the Infantes will capture some of that success. And in effect it has. I wouldn't pay >$250/box if I did not have access to them. But I might pay ~ $200/box. That's the going rate for some aged EL's (like RyJ Dukes).

I've seen em for 350 quid.

They're personally not even worth 20 dollars for me. (darn megaherf auction). That's enough to buy many other good cigars with one or no bands.

Frank. Public sales on Delicios jars fetch 2grand USD nowadays. The Deli Cigar came out with the Cohiba Gran Reserva. I'm pretty sure that affects sales there.

perhaps enough to regret giving me one ;)

I was lucky to get my 1 jar. Sent a friend after the Partagas jar. None were in stock so he muled me back the LGC. :ok:

Oh my god that's hilarious. Go trade the Delicios jar for 4 P1 jars.

You like that eh? :P That was when I was just starting out. Didn't realize that LGC jar was out and what made it so special. He muled me the LGC jar and a 25cab of Mag50..then he got into cigars and never muled for me again. :( Ingrate.

As much as this stick has begged me to find it, at that price I would much rather opt to get Monte 520's mainly because of size and lesser price. Although the Infantes will forever continue be my white whale esp at that $tag lol

The infantes me and newkarian smoked were green tannic trash. We pitched them after 5 minutes. Wasted money.

It was mediocre at best and anyone that pays >$10/stick is getting taken. That's my opinion.

I wouldn't pay that much for a box but that is probably because I already have a bunch of them from my last trip to Havana :)

I will say the last couple I've smoke seem much better than when they first came out. Hopefully that bodes well for the future enjoyment of them.

All experienced and credible smokers I know have found that this cigar was a complete dud. In your place I would sell them when the market has been dried out…

That's quite the inflammatory statement. thinking.gif A lot of "credible smokers" I know are split on this, that is for sure. The hype over this cigar really comes down to it's HTF nature. Everyone who missed out on the LGC Jar is hoping that lightning strikes twice with this release: In terms of value and ROI. :P It certainly has been popular in terms of "collectability" and it has been a decent smoke IMO. Especially at $6'ish/stick or even $10/stick I dare say. I smoked half a box last November in Havana and found each one to be mild/medium bodied and enjoyable throughout. Others quipped that they were lifeless and boring. Palates will vary of course. To my palate, they were light a light RACF meets a Mag50. They might not age well past 5/10 years. Who knows? But they smoke very well for the time being.

I'd have to agree Frank........."credible smokers" that i know are right down the middle on these.....including myself. I have smoked both great and not so great samplings of this cigar yet I would not be a buyer over $150.

bought a few of these down in HAV in november and they will be good with time...now if somone offered me 350$ for one of my boxes i would sell a box in a heartbeat.

A friend of mine offered me an LGC jar for $350au 2 years back

It was opend but still complete

I didnt know what was so special about it but bought it anyway because it looked nice

I did a little research on it when it landed and when I found what it was selling for in the US I rang my friend back and offered him more money

I felt like I stole it from him

He sold it to me for what he paid when he was in Cuba (I think) so I sent him a "thankyou 5'er" and he was happy.

If it ever got stolen or distroyed I think I'sd cry for months
