El Presidente Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I must be getting old Head off in the morning camping with my boys for a few days. Should be some good Bass fishing to be had and overall i am looking forward to it ......BUT ....HOW MUCH BLOODY ORGANISATION HAS TO GO INTO A CAMPING TRIP!!! For one of life's supposed "simple pleasures".... it is a lot of bloody hard work. prep the tents/poles/tarps/ground sheets. no idea what goes with what. Check all cooking and cleaning utensils. Missing half. make list and purchase. Check all cooking equipment and gas bottles. Couldn't get cooker to work. Threw it out. next day found attachment that made it work. Smithy finds me digging through rubbish bin and say "the food from the Cafe is not that bad" Prep Fishing canoe. No holes, Serious questions on fish finder as while working.... it is picking up a big fish in the warehouse. Check all batteries. purchase new ones as what is the use of checking batteries. Prep all fishing gear. Service reels. See what we need. make list. Check outboard. Talk nicely to it. Give it a cuddle. Check trailer. pretend to know what you are doing. Looked underneath. Squirted some WD40 on something that looked important. Check Fishing Licenses. Check Camping Licenses. Check first aid kit. make list of what to purchase. Check Tow Hitch on trailer will work on new car. Plan Camping Menu Purchase Dry Food. Purchase Ice and Wet Food on day leaving. Purchase fuel for outboard......and to light fire Buy cold weather gear as it is winter and nights are below zero where we are heading. nice...I hate the cold and am being protected by a big pop up condom. Buy Beenie. Buy fire wood as I know there will be none there. Buy red wine. Pack Cigars. Gas two lighters. I am knackered....and we haven't left yet 2

bradbrennan Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 You all must be tougher than us in the U.S., we usually camp in cabins if at all in winter
Rye Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Love camping, although my version is much, much simpler. 1

Fuzz Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 You forgot one item, paddles for the canoe in case the outboard fails... as it surely will.
KoreanCowboy Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 You need to try camping here in the RV Capitol of the world, Elkhart county. This is how we "camp" we manufacture most of the worlds RV's here. 1

Skyfall Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I like camping, but packing and unpacking for camping is the beat down!
AlohaStyle Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 You all must be tougher than us in the U.S., we usually camp in cabins if at all in winter Yep, the Winter in Australia is just like the Winter in North Dakota... lol 1
El Presidente Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 You forgot one item, paddles for the canoe in case the outboard fails... as it surely will. Chris, paddles x 2 never leave the fishing canoe. Neither does a rope in case we need to get towed
polarbear Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Jeez. I like your style of camping PBs camping kit is: Swag, 3 tins of stew, packet of fire lighters, camp chair and esky full of beers. Maybe a decent knife and saw if I'm feeling lazy Plus the mandatory cigar related tools of course
sharks Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Love camping, getting out of town and back into the backblocks. Don't see anyone for a week , just grab the essentials and go. Still get onto a few properties for shooting, fishing, photography, and just relaxing under the stars. The weeks before its like the days before Xmas, so excited Getting the gear out ,checking it, fixing it, grabbing new gear, luv it. The coming home and cleaning, storing said equipment is the killer. Definitely worth it though Prez enjoy!
westg Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I rather sleep under five stars than a million.. I concur
