ArtemusGordon Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Gents The punch punch has been on my "to try" list for a bit now (got one a while back from a BOTL but it was totally plugged). Are these smoking well fresh? Or do they need some serious downtime before they are rocking?
headstand Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I got a recent box and I must say it is taking a lot of effort to keep from burning through the box. Good now, but room to improve over the coming year...IMHO
Smalls Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 If you try some let us know what you think.. They have been on my list to try as well.
Jeremy Festa Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 First box I got for my bro-in-law about 3 or 4 months ago was Punch Punch and we completely rinsed the box. My verdict is "it's go time!" From my mobile phone
Lant63 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I had a box of very young tubos.... until I smoked them all. I though they performed slightly better than my siglo 4 of the same age.
CQloh Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 definitely give it some love in the humidor... you won't regret it
fingerburner Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Early '13 Punch Punch are off the hook. BAM MAR 13 are my latest acquisition and they are everything you could possibly expect from a cigar - young or old. 1
PapaDisco Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 ROL's of '09 were my favorites of all time, most other '09's have been good for me too (mostly tubos), 2010's and 2012's I've tried (tubed and boxed) have had a high percentage of bad draws and wrappers. Just picked up a box of BAM 2013's yesterday and they are looking promising. Will let you know shortly! While construction of recent years has been questionable, at least the flavors have always been good and Punch Punch never delivers a harsh experience.
Jimmy2 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 That's great to hear as there should be excellent fresh !! It will also give you an idea if you chose to age them that they have a great chance of developing into something special . Remember a blender blends on great flavor before putting them into production it's the only way he can judge a great tasting cigar .
jdo2110 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I had a box of very young tubos.... until I smoked them all. I though they performed slightly better than my siglo 4 of the same age. Leo, I believe you sent me one of these tubos, and it was delicious. Had a sweet molasses taste to it. A group of us just split a cab and I smoked one and it was delicious. Ironically, it didn't taste like the tubed version. More like peanut-butter, chocolate, wafer bar. Either way, both were very good young. The one from the cab had some burn issues, but I lit it ROTT so it didn't have a chance to settle Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yagermeister Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Got my first box of Punch Punch about a month ago myself. Feb '13 box of tubos. They're smoking great with just a year on them!
cpmurrin Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 smoked through a box I got about a month and a half ago and on to another. smoking great right now
bigbwalls Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Just received an April '13 box from our host and the first stick out of it was good. I keep telling myself to be patient and let them settle... but I just may smoke another right now!
Armaniac Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Had some young tubos recently and they smoked great.
Jimmy2 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 If they taste great young there is nothing wrong with smoking them now as that's what they are meant for . Aging is taking them to another level seeing how the great flavors they produce young will evolve in to a different flavor profile later on . I have smoked thousands of cigars aged ( 1950's HU ,1950's Punch , special blended for gentlemen clubs from 1950's and many more different brands ) and fresh and some have been stelar and some not so .. What I am saying is aging a cigar will not always make it a better smoke just follow what your palate tells you it will never let you down . I am very excited hearing about the PP and can not wait to sample the present ones ! Enjoy your smokes ..
ArtemusGordon Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Awesome guys! thanks for all the replies. Have a box on the way as of today so looking forward to them!
Ken Gargett Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 video on way (if rob ever gets around to it). 1
madmarvcr Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I got a box of Punch Punch in November with ENE 13 code. I have been trying one a month, at first they were so-so. Each month they are getting better. So far I have had no draw or burn issues Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think I might have one left, but I want to do a side by side with the dress box I have ordered!
AlohaStyle Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I have a cab on the way from all the talk... looking forward to them!
mk05 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Got half a fresh box of these from a trade, and not sure what I'm smoking. It's pleasant enough to pass, in a generic cigar sort of way.
beamer Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 The 180 degree turn on the feelings toward Punch in the past few months on this forum is interesting to see.
The Privateer Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Have been going through a box of BRA Sep 13 like crazy -- and I usually age my cigars several years. Some sticks show their youth towards the final third, but most have flavors of peanut butter and wafers like a previous poster said.
