congrats.

the asking the father must be a daunting experience.

when my brother-in-law came around to ask my dad re my sister (and dad was a fairly terrifying experience at the best of times), mum knew why and was beside herself.

dad had just started watching one of his fave movies ('genevive' for fans of old brit comedies). andrew tried to interrupt but dad was having none of it.

sit down, shut up and talk to me after the movie.

sister was furious, mum frantic, future bro-in-law in shock.

but dad watched the movie and then, 'so, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?'. when asked, 'well, why didn't you say so earlier'.

dad always swore he had no idea why bro-in-law was there but i don't believe him for a second. i'm sure he enjoyed the movie even more than usual.
