Popular Post stogieluver
I have two children. Even though they're 33 (son) and 31 (daughter), neither are married yet. My son got engaged New Years eve, and will be married this July in Breckenridge, CO. That's all exciting and everything, but I'm not looking forward to seeing his mother (my ex) and her family at the wedding because in their eyes I'm the bad guy. The last time I saw her and that family was almost 15 years ago. This morning, though, my daughter's boy friend called and said he wanted to come see me tonight. I was pretty sure I knew the purpose of the visit and was looking forward to seeing him. I like this guy and I think he's good for my daughter. We had a nice visit. (Not important, but since this is a CC forum, I was smoking a RASS and drinking a Cuba Libre. ) Small talke at first, then he nervously asked for my blessing to marry my daughter. My Sweet Pie. My little girl. A very surreal moment, like I was in a movie or something. It was just a great moment for me to know that she's going to be married to a good, responsible guy who says she is his best friend. Can't wait for the grandchilden. They need to get married and get busy!

oliverdst
LOL. That's true. I am sure a lot of people do not complain about cigars anymore. As a matter of fact they miss the old days when only cigars and cigarettes were smoked.

mgravito
Congratulations! He did it the right way. More RASS and 6 or 7 Cuba libres should smooth over the experience of seeing the ex.

Ken Gargett
congrats. the asking the father must be a daunting experience. when my brother-in-law came around to ask my dad re my sister (and dad was a fairly terrifying experience at the best of times), mum knew why and was beside herself. dad had just started watching one of his fave movies ('genevive' for fans of old brit comedies). andrew tried to interrupt but dad was having none of it. sit down, shut up and talk to me after the movie. sister was furious, mum frantic, future bro-in-law in shock. but dad watched the movie and then, 'so, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?'. when asked, 'well, why didn't you say so earlier'. dad always swore he had no idea why bro-in-law was there but i don't believe him for a second. i'm sure he enjoyed the movie even more than usual.
