Hi guys. I'm looking for recommendations for smokes rg42 or under regardless of specific vitola.

So far I've had and liked:

MC- esp. #2, #4, & #5

HYdM- du Depute, du Prince

Coh- Sig I, Sig II

Parti- shorts, Super Parti

SCdLH- el Principe

HU- PC

Boli- PC

and just recently,

JL-PC

PL-PC

What have I missed that's a "must try"

(I love this place! Real people talking about real smokes. God bless you all!)

Thanks in advance,

(New guy) Dan

The Monte #2 is going to be more like a 52 ring gauge. The R&J #2 is a 42, H Upmann Coronas Majors tubos have been a cheap and cheerful smoke for me so far. The R&J #2's a bit more biting. Probably the box I bought could use a rest, but the more experienced hombres around me seem to like them just as is. Also have had decent luck with HdM Coronation tubos. All of these are cheaper than the Monte #4, and I think the Monte is better, but a lot depends on your personal likes.

RASCC are on my list but I'm having a hard time finding some. Are they just small production or seasonal or something?

I've always thought of RyJ's as sort of a 'beginners' smoke. Is that just a very wrong assumption on my part, from the reputation of their Dom. counterpart?

I like Cohiba's taste but not their price. Are the lancero's worth the nickel?

If you are willing to go up to a 43 ring, I think the Partagas 898 is worth a try. Unfortunately, others I enjoy / have enjoyed are no longer in production - no lament, just thinking out loud.

I'm looking forward to starting in on a box of Partagas SdC No.2.......

When I was getting into cigars and wasn't aware of where to get the goodies I could always find RyJ #2 at the smokemart/deli/bottleo. Now they're still an old faithful for both myself and a good smoke to share with mates that don't smoke on the regular.

Also the odd gem can be found where there is a low turnover of stock (as long as they aren't all dried out)

I'll second the 08 Cohiba CEs. On my second box (MEL code). Nothing less than stellar.

I love the Upmann Corona Major. I think they deliver real value. I have some HDM Coronations on the way. I hope I have as much luck with them as PapaDisco has had.

To keep the list short id say ramon allones small club corona and por larranaga montecarlos is worth a try, but theres so many good cigars to choose from in that range

*I believe he means a Monte Especiale #2 which should be about a 38 ring gauge and has a pigtail twist at the cap.

wub.png Is that avatar a pic of my favorite tough guy actor Lee Marvin from "The Wild Ones"!? I think you can't go wrong with a Montecristo No. 3, and Por Larranaga PC; par excellance, both! thumbsup.gif

Thanks. Your cute dogs, guns and ceegars are pretty cool too.

I don't think of Lee Marvin as an 'actor' I think he was pretty much that way in real life! Marlon Brando was a wus in that movie compared to Lee.

Check out the movie "Cat Ballou" again if you haven't seen it in a while. Some of the best drunk scenes/lines you'll ever see/hear.

(Kid, all hung over with bloodshot eyes) "aww Kid, Look at your eyes, they're a mess. Kid: Oh yeah? You should see them from this side!

Hey It's my thread. I can highjack it if I want! ;-}

But back to Cigars. The first PLPC I just smoked ROTB (AME May '13) was a little stronger, more earthy, strong toasted tobac with only a faint background sweetness than I expected from what I've read. I was hoping for a bit more medium/sweet. So the jury is still out on PL. I'll come back to them in 6 mo. or so.

My favorite small smoke from my list is the SCdLH el Principe so you can get an idea where my taste lies. Siglo I second. ( but I don't like the price.) "Can't taste the money".

Didn't see them listed but I've also enjoyed

Bolubo #1

Partagas aristocrats

And if like to echo rascc. Damn good. Smoke if you can find em.
