How are these going?

I'm hearing a lot of people saying these are dropping off fast.

Should I crack and smoke through the boxes I've still got or do these still have some legs left in em?

I never got a chance to try these when they were released so I dont have a base line to graph where they're heading.

Interesting, I was going to start a similar thread. I bought 2 boxes back in the day and still have one full box left. The first box was uniformly awesome although I'll admit that the flavors became a little muted over the years. The process of ageing isn't a linear one though, so who knows how they will fair over the next few years.

Given how much they are going for though I'm undecided on whether to smoke them or possibly sell them and buy some other smokes to try.

If you ask me, I would say opt for selling them/trading them, you get soo much more from the 520 or the GE. The Sublimes are not delivering that much at this point, IMO.

Best cigar for 2013 by a mile for me...smoke them don't trade enjoy. I have seven left. they were sitting in 16 degrees and 62% they delivered a really cool minty type smoke, hard to explain because I have never experienced anything like it , the cigar gave what appeared to be a perfectly measured draw on every occasion. It did not heat up or go cool down. It just kept on delivering and delivering a complex and delicious smoking experience. Give them a go.

I'd disagree. I smoked a Sublime just before Xmas and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Got any notes on the profile?

Last recent review I read of them was mostly "floral and tea". Not what I usually look for in a Montecristo

Oh and when I first had them 08 I didn't think anything much of them, so it was around October last year when I couldn't make up my mind what to have and I cracked one..four to five years later , magnificient.

The one I smoked was medium bodied, smooth, rich dark chocolate, nice smoke volume, at times a bit earthy. Didn't pick up any floral notes, but I did notice a biscuity flavour in the beginning, kinda like milk arrowroot. Took my time smoking as previous ones did get a bit harsh if I smoked too quickly.

Dude, Monte 08's lol...opinions are like well you know...how about smoke ONE and decide for yourself...mine are smoking brilliant and show no signs of dropping off...same as my '04 Subs that apparently have lost their lustre wink.png

It still the best cigar I own. Down to 3 boxes but smoking awesome . I break one out every few months but way above GE IMO .

And when you can find them, price going up. GE still reasonable

Of the 3 , Sublime,GE,520, what is your preference

If you are worried about losing it's punch I would keep them wet and when you are ready to smoke one dry box it. It will help. My opinion.... smoke them they are great

2+ years of production, I'm guessing some are ready, some are not, blablabla?

…mmm… try this: crack open one box, pull off one cigar, smoke it, and bingo! you will have a base line…

This makes some sense I think

The GE is literally a big Edmundo, the sublimes have always been and continue to be a smooth and creamy, almost mild cigar; nothing like the GE. If someone gives you 4 boxes of GE for your one of sublimes imo you're being ripped off.

Don't get rid of then simply because of rumours on the Internet!!!!

Smoke one last night and I thought it was a great cigar. To me it was mild but had a beautiful creamy taste throughout. Was my last one but luckily a new box showed up today. Was not a fan of the MGE when it came out but a few weeks back I smoked one and was floored, It was one of the better cigars I have smoked in awhile. To me it was stronger then the sublime. At half the price it is a steal and just started adding boxes the last few weeks.

But from the 10 sublimes I have smoked I believe they are going to be good for quite sometime. Definitely willing to snap up a few more boxes if I see come across any.

Side note just got a few boxes of Monte 520's in and will a bit to try them out. Reviews I have seen thus far have been outstanding.

I would gladly trade for a 5er or a whole box if someone wants to share their monte sublimes!

Me too. I'd love 2 or 3 myself, but $40 per stick is a steep price to pay imo.
