I would not be surprised in the least. If the trend in the US doesn't reverse, HSA has no reason not to release a 60rg eventually. If they are able to price it at a large enough premium, the extra tobacco used makes perfect sense.

No, not really true, our Regional was the Encantos, perhaps one of the thinner Regionals released to date.

I have spent enough time in China (50+ trips) and Taiwan to know what the locals like and smoke - at least in the major cities.

Quite a few of the store rollers in Cuba are rolling giant things now. I remember getting "Maravilla Extras" in 2010, 55 rg X 9 inch.

Other shops have things like "Elefantes", 60-64ish rg X 6 inch. One UK retailer has monstrosities rolled for him, I don't know what he calls them but they are 70-80 rg X 9 inches.

These things are all popular, it can be difficult to get "normal" size cigars from some rollers. Reinaldo had no lancero-sized cigars a couple of times I saw him.

If the shops in Cuba are selling things this big to people "in-the-know", that is, retailers and smokers who go to Havana for the festival and know where to go to buy store-rolled cigars, it's only a matter of time before Habanos catches on.

What I suppose I'm saying is, it's not only smokers of non-Cuban cigars who buy or want to buy 60+ rg cigars, I'm sure Habanos have something in the pipeline.

Is Laurence the very heavy gentleman that does reviews on youtube? If it is I can't imagine watching him smoke a cigar that large. It's painful enough watching him smoke a normal cigar while taking 4-5 puffs in quick succession, LOL.

That has to be Laurence lol? That guy has cast-iron lungs! biggrin.png

Laurence Davis of Sautter cigars?? Can you imagine him smoking a Cohiba Panetela? Watch at 3:23. He calls a Churchill a thin cigar. WTF?

Thanks Dan . . . tantrum.gif

"I'm not banging the drum for Churchills - too long and skinny for me'

He could LITERALLY take down a Churchill in 30 minutes the way he smokes.

As you pointed out, I can't stand the quick 5-6 puffs in succession.

I'm not saying who it was with the big cigars but regarding Lawrence, here's a story. At the first 'retailer vs roller' baseball game in 2011, Lawrence got a hit. While running to first base, yes running, he took a spill, he went down hard, everybody in the stadium felt it. He got back up and made it to first base and carried on with us for the rest of the day. It turned out later that he broke three ribs and a collar bone in that fall. He's made of tough stuff.

Another UK retailer there went around everybody who had a camera at the game and made sure any video of the fall was deleted before anybody got back to internet territory. Nice touch.

If it did come out, you know most of the folks here would have to buy it.... if it came with a Cohiba or RA band... and a lacquered box or double bands.

I'm not sure I would

I would certainly try one or two to start but the 60rg cigars I enjoy are very few, they're usually NCs that were blended as a 60rg as apposed to a cigar that has had 60rg added to its line up where a smaller rg (lancero or corona gorda) is already available.

Reidaldo cigars have just added a 60rg to its line. I'll continue to buy the corona gordas instead but the Drew Estate MUWAT line is a 60rg cigar that I enjoy because the blend was originally developed with a 60rg in mind

A cohiba Siglo VII that is a 60rg would not interest me when I know there is still a Lancero in the line up

What, did Lebron get dunked on again?

I have a bundle of these 60rg customs there. Need to age it because the one I tried was just too much for me fresh. I turned green. Maybe I shouldn't have had it first thing in the morning with my espresso bouncing around in a taxi to Pinar.

Also, arthritis is catching up with the older guys. They don't want to sit around rolling half coronas all day, imagine the level of frustration. The older shop and master rollers can roll em big and sell them for more, it's a win win. Sort of different story for the factory workers however.

I agree, it's not a matter of if but when. And of course it will be a Cohbia.
