canadianbeaver Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Probably one of my favorite things about having a beautiful large fridge humidor full of cigars is when someone comes into our house and least expects it, I say, "Do you smoke cigars?" The answer is often yes, but the person does not have any. I write this after a long night up here in snow country, where our propane tank ran on empty in the middle of the night causing the furnace to stop and the house to go freezing cold. After a couple of calls, our propane supplier arranged to send a truck at 2am, to be here by 4 am. In about a foot of snow, "Brian" shows up and takes care of everything. Turns out Brian likes the leaf once a year or so. Perfect time to share a stogie! You?
madandana Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Yes, I love to share with my friends. If invited to someones house I usually bring something in a tubo as a gift. If friends come over I alway supply the smokes. I keep plenty of Brevas and faveritos on hand for the novice. They don't know the difference. All they know is they've got a nice cuban. The funny thing is,they all think i'm a cigar guru but I really don't know crap......But I'm learning more each day thanks to the Botl/sotls here.
laficion Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I like to have friends over and share my cigars & whiskeies with all of them,,,,,,That's the way I am,I can't help It . Anytime Is a right time , with me . Bravo.that's a girl.
Colt45 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I've posted this before, but it's a time I've not forgotten: Some years back, I had a Saturday to myself, so I took a road trip to a place that I knew allowed smoking on the lawn area of their outdoor bar. While ordering my drink, I double checked to see that they still allowed smoking, and a gentleman next to me asked what I was smoking. I got my drink and offered him a cigar. He was there with a lovely woman, also a smoker, and they chose a PLPC to share. We took our drinks and cigars (I had a VR Unicos) to a couple of lawn tables. We shared a great day, interesting conversation, and a beautiful view of the Atlantic ocean.
LeafLover Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I give a cigar to my electrician and the service Rep at the car dealership when I bring my car in for maintenance. As cigar smokers, they bean with excitement. far better than a tip for them as it seems.
CUBANO Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Yes. I will be sharing cigars with friends on the 31st as I cook the Cuban pig roast.
LordAnubis Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 The best thing i find about smoking cigars is sharing, or rather introducing, good cigars to new friends, for me often people i've only met 5 minutes ago. In Turkey I met two blokes from Alaska and within 2 minutes figured out that one was keen into cigars (non-cubans ofcourse) and i only had 2 cigars one me. One was an Epi 2 from a box i had started to like and one was a Party 898 that i had never smoked before and was mad keen on smoking. However you can not ever give up the opportunity to offer a good cigar to a new friend. They both loved experience and for the rest of the trip we had a frikkin awesome time. All thanks to some cigars shared.
Marker Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Sharing cigars is more fun than smoking them. Smoking them with a good friend and a conversation, even better.
ramon_cojones Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 great stories guys i was at the pool of my hotel in hawaii last week and started speaking to my neighboring female sunbather from detroit while her husband was in the pool and something was mentioned of smoking on my balcony and she said her husband was a cigar smoker...thought to myself yes i'm sure probably an NC guy but no turned out he had the goods too...we ended up trading sticks and herfing on their balcony with drinks and fresh coffee watching the sunset three days in a row, was a fabulous time. introduced him to the plmc bc he mainly smokes robustos and had no idea such a thin cigar could have so much flavor, also gave him a short and qdo corona '11, they bought me lunch and drinks too later such generous people are cigar smokers
Orion21 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Smoking with my Dad One of my earliest memories as a child was camping with my parents. My Dad building a fire and lighting up a cheap plastic tube cigar I see at drug stores here in the US. Garcia Vega I think is the brand. Anyway, he enjoyed them so much that from a young age I associated cigars with relaxation and happiness. Today my Dad is in his mid 60's, me in my early 30's, and even though we are over 30 years different in age we share the same taste in cigars. He has moved on from his plastic tube cigars to high end NC's and Cuban cigar I give him. This past Spring I gave him a Sig VI from 2008 and while smoking it he continually commented it was the best cigar of his life. I just felt so much pride and happiness giving that to him. He may be an old stubborn SOB, but at least he's my stubborn SOB who loves cigars!
ramon_cojones Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 wow what an incredible feeling, i love when others thoroughly enjoy my cigars...isn't it bizarre how something you give someone can cause such enjoyment?
TiminBC Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I was returning from a business trip and got a cab from the airport. The cabby and I talked about cigars on the way home. he was a casual smoker but enjoyed a good cigar. I realized 10 minutes after getting home that my wallet must have fallen out of my pocket after I paid for the cab. I called the taxi dispatch and asked them to call him and see if he had found it. He did find it despite having a fair after me and went out of his way to drop it off at my home right away. I gave him a cigar from a box a friend had personalized in Honduras. He seemed very happy to receive it as I was to get my wallet back. I have gifted many cigars to dive buddies and at camp outs but for the most part those people were not cigar smokers and usually did not finish the cigars.
sactochris Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I'm not at all stingy with even my very best smokes.
Jeremy Festa Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Some great stories here. I love nothing more than seeing the froth levels soar through the roof when you gift a cigar. And, I have converted many new crew over to the darkside in doing so. I actually host a "Cigar Sunday" at my place every other weekend, and the numbers have been growing, which is awesome. But my absolute favourite, is giving one mate in particular, a cigar that he doesn't have or hasn't tried. This is because he is so into cigars already, so the level of appreciation goes up a notch. Even though he knows what they would be worth too. And the thing is,"he does alright" would be a massive understatement. So last weekend I took over an HUHC, and a PLMC. Just one of each because they are the two most recent boxes I got out of my OLH. He was so pumped!!! Like a kid in a candy store. At the end of the day, it's the thought that counts. But, if someone is geeking out on cigars already, and you give them one, I reckon it is one of the best reactions you will get.
Rushman Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 For me a great pleasure in life is sharing what I have with others. Truly a blessing. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=19.390128,-81.404662
