Bolismoker Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 If you could only put one in your humidor which one if these two amazing smokes would you go with and why?
CaptainQuintero Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 It's probably reasonable to assume that the 1966 like all other ELs has a short life span eg what the Cohiba Sublimes are starting to do now; the best is behind them. So for long term I'd go the 54. 1
IShotAManInReno Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I have two boxes of each. The 1966 is the superior cigar.
bogglor Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I don't agree that the best of the 1966s are behind them. 1966 in a landslide, for me.

Optic101 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Have a box of 1966. Besides the positive reviews, I like the number.
Spartan Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 66' no doubt. I have 2 boxes and I wish I could find more.
Hiroshiro Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 66' no doubt. I have 2 boxes and I wish I could find more. Same here. They are a great smoke can't wait to see them down the line
Zigatoh Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 66' no doubt. I have 2 boxes and I wish I could find more. They're easy enough to find, just at 50-100% more than what FOH sold them for when they had some in!
MC4 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 This is a tough one. My best cigar of all time has been '10 BHK 54, but I do really enjoy 1966 as well. I voted 1966.
coug28 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 BHK 54 by a mile IMO. Nothing original about the EL profile whatsoever. Those wrappers make every blend taste damn near identical. Better off spending the $ on regular production VR or Bolivar if chocolate & earth is what you're after.
MnMWC Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I have had a few 1966's that were "Zoners"... you know... don't talk to me, look at me, or ask me to do anything until I am done with this cigar! They get my vote... BHK 54's are very good cigars, just haven't had that type of experience with them... yet:)
Bolismoker Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 A lot more intrigue to this question than I was expecting. To those who favor the Behike over the 1966, in the FOH video review Rob mentioned that the Behike reminded him of an aged Davi. Do you guys feel this is a fair comparison?
ehdg Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Personally the 54 is nice but I prefer the 52 over the 54. If your looking to put down for sometime time I'd go with the 1966's.

I've had/have both. I really enjoy both and believe they have some huge long term potential. I was curious which was more generally regarded as the best in class.
Hiroshiro Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Smoking Now The BHK are fantastic. But Smoking the 1966s give a glimpse as what is to come in the Future
fokker4me Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I would go with the 1966. I've smoked both and while both were great smokes only the 1966 had me thinking "why can't I smoke this everyday?" The flavor was complex and unlike some others I've experienced before. That being said my friend was sucking through a plunged straw. Point being even at that level of cigar consistency might be a concern.
nikesupremedunk Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Both have been my 2 most disappointing cigars yet, mainly due to the price. For $25-30, sure they are good cigars but at 45-50 a stick, not worth it. I do like the 1966 a bit more though.
LLC Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I think the 54 is better now but think the 1966 will get better with time so I'd smoke the 54's now and sit on the 1966's for a while.
ramon_cojones Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 You forgot option C c) none of the above
brian1 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Behikes have been consistently dissapointing to me. The 1966 are better by a mile, and remind me a lot of the Sublimes at the same stage.
kittipong Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I have all first batch Behike 52, 54, 56 but I think 1966 has more aging potential, I will keep them at least another 5 years. So I will go for 1966.
