Ken Gargett Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Wait some people are genuinely pro-Polanski??? Pro-jimmy saville? yes, we had people who genuinely believed roman was copping the raw end of the pineapple. so to speak. seriously. as for saville, don't think it has ever been raised. and must say that i have not heard any radio station playing 'two little boys' of late.
Laxman Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 In all honesty, this PC thing is getting out of hand. Terms can change their meaning as time passes. Ask anyone what "wog" means in Australia. At one time in our past, it was a derogatory term, nowadays Greeks use the term in a more positive light to assert their ethnic pride. Is the name "Redskins" used in the modern era in a positive or negative light? Yes, if we do not remember the past we are bound to repeat it, but we must also be able to forgive and let go to move beyond. I asked a friend last night what he thought the team name meant to him (he does not follow NFL and has no clue about the historical term). He thought that the team name was honoring and linking it to the Native Americans. Just like the Greeks here in Aus, Native Americans should take the ownership of the term and turn it into a positive light. I agree 100%. All this PC crap has really gotten out of hand here in the states.
Laxman Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 The Giants have been horrible thus far this year but the Redskins are not much better, 0 and 6 but at least we play the Skins twice so we are at least guaranteed 2 wins this season. Plus the fact that we won two Superbowl's since 2008 and I believe its been since 92? that Washington has lifted the Lombardi.
tmac77 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I agree 100%. All this PC crap has really gotten out of hand here in the states. Here in Canada also to such an extent that there is a proposal out there to change our national anthem to be gender neutral.
Laxman Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Here in Canada also to such an extent that there is a proposal out there to change our national anthem to be gender neutral. Wow, I thought trying to take Under God out of the pledge of allegiance was bad.
Munts Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 "WASHINGTON—Following an outpouring of criticism from across the country, the Washington Redskins announced Wednesday that they are officially changing the team’s name to the D.C. Redskins. “We’ve heard the concerns of many people who have been hurt or offended by the team’s previous name, and I’m happy to say we’ve now rectified the situation once and for all,” said franchise owner Dan Snyder, adding that “Washington Redskins” will be replaced with “D.C. Redskins” on all team logos, uniforms, and apparel. “It was a difficult decision—and one that, frankly, I’m a little embarrassed took me so long to make. So hopefully we can now put this issue to bed and start cheering on our D.C. Redskins.” In light of Snyder’s decision, Cleveland Indians owner Larry Dolan told reporters he will change the feather in Chief Wahoo’s headdress from red to a “more appropriate” shade of red." http://www.theonion....he-dc-re,34161/

They should have to change their name to the Washington Sickly Baby Unicorns.

They should have to change their name to the Washington Sickly Baby Unicorns. sadly true. mind you, if that was the best the cowgirls could do against us (yes, a win is a win), it hardly suggests they are in for a stellar season. loved the quote from a fan - "The most offensive thing about the Redskins' name this year might be that they call themselves a football team."
PigFish Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Damn... just as it was really getting funny reading who was offended by whom, you guy all kiss and make up! As always I have a plan!!! American Indians, expand your gaming. What else dose the population need? Well hell, a lot of things, mostly some leadership currently! Mine natural resources on your land. Build a coal fired power plant, better yet, funnel some of that casino cash into a nuclear plant. Call it Paleface Power!!! -LOL Undercut the current highly regulated power companies. Make a fortune! Lobby. Send people who enjoy the fruits of capitalism to state capitols and DC. If you can't elect them, buy them, hell every other group does. Start electing your own!!! Lord knows it has been proven that neither white men, black men, white women nor black women have a clue about running the country. Rename DC to your liking. Buy the Redskins and call them the Redskin Potatoes or White Puss, hell I don't give a damn! Everyman has his price and the Redskins are for sale (for the right price). When you get to DC let them know that most of us don't want to be livin' in caves painting on the walls. Please tell then, it was not that great a living, will you? We would prefer central heat to that of the log fire. Tell them that when you reduce your country to that of the economic power an ancient primitive people, some other group comes in and kicks your ass and makes you their property, calls your wife a ***** and names hills after her!!! Teach them that will you? And if I ever get reduced to an individual so pitiful that I prefer to mooch and beg when I have the ability to work and make my own way, when I show up for a bowl of free soup with an iPhone and expensive sneakers, throw me out on my ass and make me feel the shame that I should feel!!! If I ever get around to crying about you naming a mountain, White Mountain, give me the kick in the balls that I deserve and say, "Now you have something to cry about." Do that for me and I will personally help sign the country over to you! -the Pig
cigcars Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Uhm, just for the record, Ray...those 453 Treaties haven't gone anywhere. They are still in effect. They are all still legal documents. This is all still legally Indian land. That's what I tell people besieged by 3rd party junk debt buyers. They just go on and put me on the phone for them whenever I'm visiting. Whatever opinion anybody may have concerning it, I'll get into screaming matches with these collectors who keep hammering to them: "Well you signed it; you signed it; you signed it", etc. I'll counter with, "Well for that matter YOU guys signed 453 Treaties nobody's obeying, respecting or adhering to...WHO screens YOU??" Of course, that is for the big name banks calling and calling and calling them to death. For the question about what is the outcome of such? Well, the phone calls go from 18 times a day to about 3 calls a day. As for the reality of what you said earlier, I suppose if one was occupying YOUR home at gun point - and it's legally YOUR home...and you ordered them out? Yeah. "Make us"

"Make us" Janet, I have no clue as to what you are talking about, if it was aimed at me! To make myself a little clearer, I think the indians (for lack of a better term) should tell the states, localities and the fed to take their bureaucracy and shove it! You are right there, the feds made treaties with sovereign nations in these cases, the government should uphold their end and the indians should maintain all such rights that come with those treaties. If one assumed I was making anti-indian remarks, please let me set the record straight. I was suggesting that there was more than one way to skin a buffalo! Activism against a football franchise does nothing. Taking your legal rights and turning them into profit and then into influence is how the system works, right or wrong. They might try it. Cheers!

I was making an example; could've been you/me/Smithy...etc. In other words...who could REALISTICALLY see the Native Americans telling the American government to "get off their land...ALL OF IT?" And the answer to that demand would be a reality based wake up call of, "Yeah right...now to get back to business; we're building our new hotel over there, and our new power plant over there, etc." So I guess I was sort of reiterating what you were saying. Doesn't make it right, justification-wise, but it's a historical fact of life in human history; Alexander the Great, Julius Ceasar, Rameses, the Chin Emperor for whom China is named after, etc., ALL muscled their way to power and land acquisition, and SCREW the rightful inhabitants!

PigFish Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Kenny you could be right. I neither know nor do I care! As far as WRS in the Superbowl, I went to SB-7 and they got beat!!! So you WRS haters can stand up and cheer!!! -LOL My uncle is a friend of Sonny Jurgensen and he gave us some great tickets and I rooted for them over the swimming mammals! As I recall Sonny did not play as he had a knee injury... I will revel in my experience of the Redskins in the Superbowl even if they are owned by a prick, not for sale and especially because they are hated by the politically correct!.. -LOL It was a great time with my Dad... Getting worked up over the name of a sports team is one silly topic. But what the hell do I know, I got all worked up over a raised fist t-shirt so I am not one to criticize anyone over getting pissed over a stupid topic?? -LOL We all have our weak moments! I was just hoping it would last a few more pages!! Not being emotionally swayed by it, I was laughing my ass off over here... Cheers, mate! -R

Never had the ambition to try them so I'm not sure if they are dog rockets or not.

joeypots Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Just in case this hasn't been posted: Native American officials asked this morning that in order to avoid further ridicule and embarrassment they no longer wish the word "Washington" to be used as part of Redskin's team name.
Dozerhead Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I was going to petition the league to rename the Houston Texans because the way they've been playing football lately is offensive to anyone from Texas!
trevlan Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 This all started because of the stupid basketball owner. Now don't get me wrong I am not racist, I don't condone what he said However , freedom of speech, he did not say it directly to a player or a person and even if he did it wasn't on TV or in the stadium or in a public place etc. He said it on the phone in his house to someone who was somewhat egging him on. And he now has to give us his ownership and be condemned for his words on the phone? Don't tell me non of us here has said one thing or another with your friends. Should we tell your boss and have you fired for that? and the fact that they are punishing him beyond what it should be, this has opened up a whole new can of worms going forward. Like this now they want to protest to change the name when no one complained before. Sorry for ranting and again I don't agree with his words but hey we have all said something stupid one time or another. Sent from my Z30 using Tapatalk
ptrthgr8 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 This all started because of the stupid basketball owner. You think this all started because of Sterling? This thread is from last October. 9 months ago. This story did not start with Sterling. C'mon, man! Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
