I like a spicy, peppery profile with cocoa or some earthiness in the taste profile. Good amount of body.

I am hitting the Parti's and Monte 2.

Any love for the

DIPLOMATICOS?

Would I like this cigar? Any other recommendations are welcome.

It's been a long time since I had a Diplomaticos No. 2, but I do remember it making quite an impression. I was relatively new to smoking CC's at the time. I was on a trip with a few friends in Windsor, Ontario. We made a stop at the local LCDH and a Diplomaticos No. 2 was the cigar I picked up. Later that night, I was sitting in the bar and thinking how amazing that cigar was. When the cigar ended, I immediately regretted not buying more cigars earlier. I left my friends and ran back over to the store to buy another Diplomaticos No. 2. I came back to join my friends and enjoyed the second cigar just as much as the first. Great night!

Never been a big fan of the marca (although I like aged No.2) but I had an excellent surprise with the Colleccion Privada, Spain Regional Edition. It's simply delicious and perfectly balanced.

No love for Diplomaticos over here.

Boston and the rest, any cigars fit my preference profile?

The SP Belicoso is accurate, I think. I was surprised at its spice. Dip 2s are nice, but are def the little cousin to the monte. Try the VR Unicos,

Love that cigar!

Had some really nice Dip 1's and 3's recently, only had a couple of number 2's, never a decent one. bad luck more than anything I think.

Had a fresh Dip 2 yesterday.

Really enjoyed it. Gonna grab a box next pay

Also enjoy the Dip 4 and the Spanish RE

Got some Dip 3's and Dip 1's from 2001 in transit

Really looking forward to those arriving

Looks like you nailed your preference with Partagas D's. Sounds like you may like Bolivar Royal Coronas and Bolivar CJ, Quinteros, San Cristobal Principe, and recent Fonseca #1's. While not as "spicy" as Partagas, these tend to exemplify the other traits you seek.

My Dip 2's are smoking very well, but I dont think it has the pepper you are looking for, a Dip 4 would be closer, except for that one issue with them...

Love the dip #4s. The rest of the line never did much for me. Earthy? Try Boli PCs. Peppery? Partagas 898s & Presedentes have been excellent lately.

I have heard the Dip 4's are solid. Have had a few boxes of Dip 2's. Not a big fan overall of the Dip 2's at the moment. One box was a dud, have two more boxes I have laid down for over 3 years, they still need some time or at least I hope they do! One of the boxes was a PSP box the cigars have great oils and are almost maduro dark, the few I smoked where decent. Personally if your looking for number 2's I would go with H Upman 2's, Part 2's or Monte 2's before the Dip 2's.

The D-2 is the worst of the line... MHO! Why keep the worst? Because they were the largest and should attract those with more dollars and less sense!!! Tabacuba marketing at its finest again!

While I am not a believer in brand profiles I have found Diplomaticos to be one of my favorite cigars. They are, strike that, were, magical cigars made in smaller quantities and with more care. Diplos, hands down beat Monte's, cigar for cigar, in the 1, 3, 4 and 5 size. I do actually prefer the Esp. over the 6 and 7's, however.

I have never really known them as peppery cigars. I have found them more subtle and floral, more complex, yet robust in flavor without the bite. I have found them more like the Esp. 1 and 2 and ERdM cigars in character than other cigars. Based on what you say you like, a cigar that bites you back a bit, I would say that you would be lesser interested in them than other cigars.
