Here's a spin off topic from the "What's your plug rate per box" thread. I just clipped a RyJ Short Churchills and took a test draw...complete wind tunnel. And I mean a COMPLETE wind tunnel, it has a better draw than a straw. pod.gif

The weird thing is, the stick feels normal when squeezed, and the foot and head is nicely packed. You would think it would have a tight draw if anything.

I usually don't have too many wind tunnel issues with CC's, but this box of RyJ SC and my Trini Robo T's have had mostly loose drawing sticks. I feel like most of the box has had loose draws. Now that I think about it, any non-box pressed robustos I've had the most issues being a wind tunnel. PSD 4 also comes to mind. To answer my own question in the topic, I think my rate is dependent on the vitola and how it's packaged. Usually don't have any issues with <50 RG cigars.

I have the same issue with my R&J wide churchils which I was surprised about. My short churchils are all fine with a perfect draw but the wide churchills were proper wind tunnels which put me off my smoke just a little. Like you the stick was packed so I'm not quite sure why they are like that.

I don't have a firm answer for your original question. However I feel I've been lucky in this way as I don't remember getting too many wind tunnels. I wonder if the fact that I almost exclusively use a punch cut helps or not?

I tend not to have too many wind tunnels across the board. However, I am at a 95% rate for wind tunnels with Boli Rc.

So I smoked that SC earlier...and it smoked like an NC (windtunnel, no surprise). The burn was also uneven, it was rolled more to 1 side. Luckily, I was having a conversation with a buddy and wasn't really paying attention to the cigar so I was satisfied with having something to puff on.

The cigar didn't feel/look underfilled though. I guess you can't judge a cigar by its looks.

All my recent PD4's, but to be fair I would rather have them loose then tight.

Trinidad Robusto Ts. My whole box was terrible. I started to clip just the smallest divot I could manage to make the draw hole as tight as possible. Didn't do much good.

I have a box of Monte Sublimes and the one I smoked had a loose draw despite feeling like a well packed cigar. A fantastic cigar and it took a long while to smoke.

"06 cab of RASS are just a bit looser than l like but are delicious none the less.

I can't remember the last overly loose cigar I had where it wasn't enjoyable and I prefer a tighter draw.

Be curious what peoples idea of wind tunnel is. Would a Padron be a wind tunnel?

I think people's definition of "wind tunnel" vary. I prefer a cigar to be slightly on the tight side, so anything that may be regular or perfect for others I may consider to be a wind tunnel.

Agreed with you on that.

Personally I haven't had any issues with this. Lately every cigar I've been pulling has been spot on.

Someone mentioned a plugged siglo I...unfortunately I've experienced too many of those
