headstand Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 JL Selection # 1 Greatest discovery of the year. I really should have three boxes waiting in the wings.
CanuckSARTech Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Guantanamera Cristales JUL 2012 vintage, English Market Selection. How about then.....Guantanamera Cristales Nov 2012 Partagas Festival special giveaways, paired with Belinda Partagas Festival specials.
Loonytoony Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Cohiba 1966 and the Montecristo A. By far the best ive ever had. also got to give a big mention to the juggernaught H Upmann Sir Winston(sensational churchill)
Pilgrims Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Not on out and out quality but my top discovery (thanks to this forum) of 2012 is the Quai d'Orsay Corona and Quai d'Orsay in particular...love the blend and think the Corona is more or less the perfect size.
Bunner Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 H.Upmann royal robusto monte GEs PSD4 siglo IV and II trini reyes coro in no order but reyes for me were high...drool...
orangedog Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Best Cigar of the Year: 1972 Montecristo Tubo really a game changer in my view of vintage cigars, especially/specifically vintage Montecristo (gifted by BENN) - lot of rich flavor and still a slight bit of strength left Most Consistent Regular Production Smoked in the Year: 2010 Bolivar Royal Corona an enjoyable smoke with plenty of flavor, and ready to smoke now Surprise of the Year: 2003(?) Quai d'Orsay Imperiales on the mild side, but nuanced and smooth. the age on this has helped and has turned my attention to QdO... somewhere I've never really looked Surprise of the Year Runner Up: 2012 Partagas EL generally not a huge Partagas fan... but have enjoyed the ELs and the P2... but almost everything I've had lately has been blah for me, so even though I've had good luck with the ELs, I didn't expect much out of this one. however, it was quite good and had me questioning whether or not I wanted to put a box away. Biggest Regret of Not Buying More: Cohiba Gran Reserva I finally burned one of these, my only one, and it was excellent. Worth the initial price tag and I wish I would've put a box or two away.
maverickdrinker Posted December 10, 2012 Author Posted December 10, 2012 very cool lists everyone. Lots of variation. Keep'em coming.
Puros Y Vino Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 My top cigars of 2012. RA Gladiator. One of the best I've ever had. ED 109. Very similar profile to the Gladiator. No surprise that it ranked high for me. La Escepcion Selectos Finos (Italy RE 2011). Glorious cigar. Packed with flavour, strong but not in a distracting way. Should age beautifully. Montecristo 520. Tried one early in release. Still doing great now that they're officially out there. RA 898. Brilliant cigar. Such a shame that it's gone. RA Mille Fleurs 2002. A surprising gem! Probably the best "at cold" aroma I've ever encountered. BHK54. A solid performer for me. Only had one bad experience that I will chalk up to a cold/rainy day in Paris. Crisantos 109 Custom. Smoked one in Havana. Lots of regret since that I only bought one. Hamlet Flying Pigs. Glorious three hours of smoking pleasure. It takes you on a tour of many of the big marcas in terms of taste.

CossackCarl Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I have found the Monte GE and HDM epicure 2's to be excellent throughout 2012.
Dbone Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I have found the Monte GE and HDM epicure 2's to be excellent throughout 2012. LOL My two happen to be very close. Monte PE and Epi 2 fresh out of the box this year have been spectacular. I made a big run on these picking up multiple boxes of each, killing almost 2 boxes of Epi 2 and 1 box of Monte PE. Surely can't remember a time when a box could be entirely smoked within the first 30 days LOL with no rest. But they are smoking that good
UpInSmoak Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 My favorites of the year BPC PSD4 Trinidad Reyes JL1 of which I need to reorder
