El Presidente Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Ditto. Check in with an update when you can.
Geo17pip Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Many trees and power lines down. I am still without power so I went to my girlfriends house to relax. Can't get into the city and my office downtown might be shut down up to two weeks.. Bummer Hope everyone else is ok George
nikesupremedunk Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Where I live and work hasn't got hit too bad. Just a bunch of trees knocked down and blocking some roads, but it's similar to the hurricane we had a year or two ago. I know people that had floods and a lot of people with no electricity so best of luck to them.
Fshaw Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Power out, forecast to be out for next. 7-10 days. Generator humming but it's getting chilly! Going to take the fam on a little trip to a hotel for a few days. Hope all the other NJ/NY folks are doing well.
Guest rob Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Hang tough is great advice. Positive thoughts coming your way from around the world guys.

pwhite Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I live on Staten Island, one of New York City's 5 boroughs, and it is surreal what has happened here. Just down the block from me a 13 y/o and her father were killed when the surge hit and collapsed their house. Today was the first day with power (an amazement) and I get on line and find out that a good friend of mine who I worked with on the FDNY lost his brother and young son.As of now 19 people have lost their lives here on Staten Island. It is very sad. However, I am very blessed that me and my family got through it unscathed. We lost power for a few days, big deal. Families lost their homes and loved ones.
mykeuva Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Out of power in nj. Luckily bought a generator the weekend before. Doesn't look good out there. Very surreal. Night, with light from the full moon, and a bunch of uprooted trees leaning on houses.
Dbone Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Hang in there guys, better days are right around the corner.
DougB Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Thanks all- support like this is appreciated and needed...Day 4 of no electricity and it is looking bleak. The nights are getting colder and colder but we were fortunate considering (about 50,000 usd of damage at our home) what is going on just down the block- enormous boats sitting in the road all bashed up, boats upon boats piled on one another in all of the marinas (there are 6 within a walk from our house), about a dozen boats floating aimlessly and unmanned in the river...- beaches and homes completely gone and the bay and ocean met and demolished countless homes. The gas lines are getting better- but it can still take 2 hours to get some. We are kicking ass though- hanging tough, smoking good cigars, and helping each other out. It is bringing out the best in people where we are and it is moving, contagious, and inspiring. Thanks for thinking of us.
Loki Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 No power at my home. Many trees down but no damage to my house. Power poles snapped in half across the street electrical wires still blocking the road. Power may be returned as soon as next Wednesday. I have 2 wood burning stoves for heat. Basically my wife and I are camping in our living room. Helping out neighbors when I can.
tburke89 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I live on the beach in NJ, we got hit pretty hard. I had to evacuate my new house, two days after I moved in to stay with family. Tree crashed through the roof of our carriage house and our tree went through the neighbors roof. I'm moving my daughter out of the area to closer where I work, where people still have electric and heat. With the temp. drop coming and my daughter only being 9 m/o I don't want to keep toughing out the cold nights with her. Our most recent estimate for power restoration says it could be as long as 20 more days, I sure as hell hope not... Things could be much worse, what is important is that we all made it out safe, everything else will fall into place.
habanos1972 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Its Nov 2 still no power or heat, by the grace of God trees that came down missed my house. Seaside is right down the road from me and I can't believe the images coming out. To all our brothers and sisters of the forum, thank you for your support and prayers.
mbrody Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Tonight is a good night...power and heat restored. THank you to the men and women who worked around the clock to help bring us back to a semi normal state...
kuzi16 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 glad to see things are starting to look better.
Ophidion Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I worked today for the first day in almost a week. Really nice to get out of the house and feel like in doing something. Even though I've been doing work at people's houses trying to clean up, it was nice to get back to my routine. Hoping that I have power or heat when I get home because its getting really cold at night and three blankets and my fiancé are barely cutting it for heat.
dan5974 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Im near Mt. Holly and we barely got hit in this area.Just sporadic power outages and an occasional treedown. The power didn't even go out in my area.We were fortunate.
