In short the Epi 2's of late are outstanding. I purchased 4 boxes in the last month, something special going on with them at the moment.... and it's called consistency.

Two very different profiles. The Epi 2 was my second ever CC I smoked and at that time it was the best cigar I've had. I guess my palate changed afterwards because I haven't had one as good since then. I'm going to say PSD 4.

I'm a partagas lover, so you know my answer. For what it's worth, I lit up a PSD4 from 2011 last week, and it was the best cigar I've had all year. Of the 3 that I've smoked from that box. 2 have been great (91pt and 94pt) and one was ok (86 pts)

Do you prefer medium or heavier bodied? The epi2 is going to be lighter than the PSD4

The answer lies within!

Agree with this. Epi2s way more consistent, but D4s are best when 'on'.

I agree with the agreement here!!

I'm not a Hoyo fan so my vote would go to the PSD4

For my tastes when on, it's one of the best rubustos. But as mentioned, they haven't been the most consistant over the years.

I used to be all about the PSD4 but in the last few years I would have to say Epi 2 by a country mile.

Buy a box of both, that's all I can say. Me, personally, I have fallen out of favor with the Hoyo line. Used to smoke them years ago and found more enjoyment from the PSD4's and BRC's.

I think the HdM need more age than the PSD4.

When they're both on, they're both excellent. I've seen more consistency with the HdM. Haven't seen any of the new production, but like others have said, they're supposed to be good.

Get a box of each.

HdM all the way. You're more likely to get a great box. The majority of PSD4's I've smoked has been GROSS, but I've had a handful that was good.

I don't know how many people I've told about this but...2012 is a special year. Everything has been really consistent and fantastic.

I stocked up on D4 because they are so hard to find year in and year out for consistency, quality, and richness. Of all D4's I've had in the last several years, I have to say they all sucked the past 8 yrs. '12 are something special. Epi #2? I haven't had one since '05 that had me say wow.

PSD4s are awesome cigars ... when they're on. Sadly, I've had more off sticks than on lately. The Epi #2, however, has always been a good cigar for me. I'm planning to get a box of them at the next sale.

Looks like it's pretty split between the robustos.

I guess I might have to get both

Enjoy the Epi2s now, age the PSD4 for future enjoyment. Thanks for the replies everyone!
