rcarlson Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Does anyone have experience with the 2010-2011 Juan Lopez Seleccion No.2? I have a group that's interested in a sharing a cab. I know nothing about them. The FOH video review was a little dated and left me ambivalent.
cottierm Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Hi Tigre, I've really enjoyed the last box I bought (SAO JUL10). Highly recommended. Here are my notes of last summer about it: "A dream-come-true cigar. Wonderful taste: cedar and vanilla in the first third; leather, dark coffee and bit of honey in the second; leather, dark coffee and pepper in the final. 95" Keep in mind that I'm partial to this brand and this particular vitola! Best, Michel
mk05 Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I split off my cab of mid 2010 cab of JL2, and it was very well received. I personally think it has no flavors, but a lot of NA smokers like them.
shrink Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I have found this cigar to be inconsistent. Some boxes outstanding, others disappointing. I would be very careful to acquire a boxcode that others can vouch for, or better yet, ask Rob to select a good box for you.
cottierm Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 You've got it, I think. Ask Rob to pick up a box for you.
tdlfoto Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 i have enjoyed a few boxes of 2010's and currently into my first 2011 box. mostly PE or HQ from LFTH.

nonameno Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Hello, I am almost through a box of 2010's and I have two boxes of December 2011's in the humi. I happen to love the Juan Lopez flavor profile and the JL2 in particular, which I find to be a little richer than the JL1. Thank you, Curtiss
rcarlson Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 Thanks for all the opinions guys. I feel like I MUST give them a try. I'll report my findings!
JCDizz Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 The ones I have are from DIC 11' and have been great so far! I am very happy I picked up a box.
riderpride Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I'm nearly done a box from Aug '10 that are delicious. This box aside, I have only experienced a couple singles, so I cannot comment on the consistency. Cheers
Ishmael Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Maybe I've just been lucky with JL, but what I have had (#1s and #2s), have left me wanting more every time.
rcarlson Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 Thanks for the additonal input guys. These are sounding like potential "hidden gems."
Lotusguy Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Hate to be the voice of dissent but I have never had one that did anything for me - fresh or aged
edlye Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 You're not alone in that opinion. I'll stick with the JL1 from the seleccion line. Hate to be the voice of dissent but I have never had one that did anything for me - fresh or aged
phoenix Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Up until 2004'ish these were one of my FAV's. But then HSA changed the blend I have a cab of 2006 that I STILL can't touch. Beginning to wonder if this batch will EVER be approachable... However, If (and only if) Rob says recent stock are smoking well, then I'd be willing to give them another chance.
jedipastor Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Got a box from LFTH, 2011 code. The look and smell AMAZING, but I haven't burned one yet. Very soon, though
rcarlson Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 Vini Vidi Vici. I hate to report that the JLS No.2 (DIC 11)were a huge disappointment. Nothing interesting about them at all (that I could detect). Well constructed. Good price. But I think I'll move on to greener pastures and leave the rest of these for my friends. I don't believe aging will do much for these yawners.
ramon_cojones Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Had my last one and too tight to enjoy (again), so many duds in that box I'm hesitant on every getting some again. My question is how many dec 11 boxes are smoking great?

My question is how many dec 11 boxes are smoking great? I dunno, but a trusted source (not Rob) was bragging on the late 2011s. I am at a loss to understand why.
CigarmanTim Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I love these. Fresh or aged... to each their own.
Chunks96ss Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I'm thinking of getting a box of these as my first CC box purchase
