Peter11216 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 It's been unseasonably warm in New York this winter. Last week while in garden I was examining my rose bushes (see picture from last summer), now starting to grow again with small buds appearing all over the branches. Figuring with the leaves gone, this would be a good time to prune . . . Things seemed to be going fine, until I withdrew my hand holding the scissors from the tangle of branches into which I had also stuck my face and cigar. I caught the back of my hand on the burning ember of the churchill, simultaneously shoving the stick through my teeth into the back of my mouth, tearing the wrapper wide open. Anyone have any other clumsiness to report? Thanks, I've also, twice, burned some of my mustache while trying to relight the last of nub of my cigar.
cigcars Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 !!YE-OUCH!! Only dropped mine a few times (including on the side of my lap and thigh) wedging between me and the chair, and having to scramble my middle aged no longer fast body up to retrieve it with various "hot foot" effects!
ramon_cojones Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 hahahaa great thread i've had an unlit cigar in my mouth as I got into my car and when I get in and lean forward the stick hit the steering wheel pushing it into my mouth and tearing the wrapper the same with my teeth another time I put a lit 898 in my lap thinking it was my 2nd unlit cigar, needless to say I needed a new t shirt after that
NJP Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Blew a Robusto up in my nephews face mid animated drunken story telling. No injuries just a black stain and lots of face rubbing. I also have a habit of bumping things with the lit foot and sliding the stick down to burn between my pointer and middle. All good sports incur injuries.
Drguano Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I was smoking a Bolivar Simone while shoveling snow. I fumbled the stick in my gloved hand and dropped it in the snow. When I snatched it out of the powder, I stuck it back in my mouth to get a puff to keep it lit. Wrong end went in and I was hacking and spitting ashes for a while. Now lasting damage to me or cigar and it did stay lit. Now I leave the and on to help remember which end goes in face.
CaptainQuintero Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Luckily nothing major beyond dropping the ember from a mag46 into my crotch, didn't notice until I smelt a funny burnt plastic smell, looked around and saw smoke coming from between my legs Just a burnt hole through to my boxers luckily
ebhead Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Y'all should ask Bundwallah about his first time smoking a cigar at my place...classic wannabe Ah-nold impression followed by accidentally hurling the cigar across my living room... ...only good point was that it was a NC, so no harm done. EB
Puros Y Vino Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Y'all should ask Bundwallah about his first time smoking a cigar at my place...classic wannabe Ah-nold impression followed by accidentally hurling the cigar across my living room... ...only good point was that it was a NC, so no harm done. EB LIES!! Actually true. But what's even better is that while telling that story to Nick & Lisa, Nick tries to recreate what happened with his cigar and does the exact same thing.
lemmycaution Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I thought it would be a good idea to use a blow torch in my car to light a cigar. It wasn't. I still have the burn marks on the ceiling of my car to prove it. I also drop my cigars once and a while. What can I say, I'm clumsy.
CanuckSARTech Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 An interesting topic. Me? Ashes all the time - I'll let the initial ash build up until it naturally falls off, and usually, it's on me or on the floor, table, plate of food, etc., etc. Now, that said..... What exactly is up with that picture???? LOL. A thread about clumsy handling of cigars? Or about pruning through the bushes, so you can be a secret voyeur and check out your neighbours???? :

rfenst Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Yeah. I was hospitalized over night for back pain and was released with an Rx for long acting morphine. While drugged out, I was sitting out back in a lounge chair smoking a cigar. I didn't realize the ash had fallen off onto my chest/belly. Didn't hurt because I was so drugged and out of it. Still have the abnormal pigmentation to prove it!
rsanz Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Dropped my cigar into the gap between the passenger seat and the center consol of my car while driving and a cursary glance (I was driving) couldnt locate it. Problem is there are so many old cigar bands etc down there I was seriously worried about starting a fire so had to pull over to the side of the road, get out, and scramble around under the seat with my hand looking for it. Without burning fingers... This has now happend 3 times! ...maybe it's time to clean all the rubbish out of the car.

I had a picture of the garden on iPhoto, so I attached it. However, I see now that it is a little weird.
ramon_cojones Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 No no, good picture thanks for posting it I'm the same way.
scradley Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I dropped a RyJ short Churchill off of a 4th floor balcony last summer when I was staying at a buddies, it was smoking really which was a shame.
Fuzz Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Clumsy? Cigar related accident? Just ask Rob about his Montessa!
dan5974 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I've dropped a couple in my lap before & wound buring hole in a couple of pairs of old shorts.
Bolismoker Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 On more than one occasion, I've pitched a nub out the front window and had it blow back in through the rear window. This seems to happen on the freeway more often than not, and will immediately precipitate my quick exit from the flow of traffic. In a mad dash to remove the burning end of the smoke from my rear seat before burning anything important.
david9985 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 When playing golf last summer and into the final third of an enjoyable Dip2, I set it down at the side of the tee box to take my shot. My mate didn't see it and took a practise swing, catching the Dip2 flush and completely obliterating it! Shame as it was smoking well, but thankfully not too much lost!
Professor Twain Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I often smoke cigars out by my pool. Dropped a bit of ash, fortunately my belly caught it so that I didn't burn any more important parts. Still have a tiny burn scar on top of my belly.
ckearns Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Nothing too serious, but this has happened a few times. Wife: Wow, that ash is getting pretty long. Maybe you should get rid of it before it falls. Me: No way! This thing isn't going anywhere any time soon. Seconds later... a lap full of ash.
Diamondog Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Brand new Boss white dress shirt, dropped my cigar 10 seconds after lighting it and 10 mintues after putting the shirt on, couldn't get it off the shirt quick enough and it made 3 brownish burn marks on the shirt...that was an expensive cigar...
CanuckSARTech Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 That's a good question . . . I like topics with pictures. I had a picture of the garden on iPhoto, so I attached it. However, I see now that it is a little weird. LOL. Just bustin' on ya, Petrus. No worries.
