laficion
Arnaldo Alfonso custom Robusto Extra. 5.8 x 50, Rolled in May 2010 Smoked in Calvisson on the 28th of Feb,2012 4.00PM First I'd like to thank Frank (bundwallah) for gifting me this great looking cigar a few weeks ago. From what Frank told me Arnaldo Alfonso was rolling for H. Upmann in the late 50's and was in charge of quality control afterwards for several brands. Now,even at a very respectable age,he is still rolling cigars at events around the world and has become a goodwill ambassador. The cigar is great looking with a beautiful Colorado Claro oily wrapper and you can see that it was rolled to perfection, however, the cigar is some what light in my hands and maybe just a little underfilled. The prelight smell and aromas are wonderful ,It's like a walk in the woods, with a scent of earthy moss and wood. The last 2 weeks here in Calvisson the weather has been very pleasent with sunny days and 18 to 20°C, so, this afternoon I decided to smoke my Arnaldo custom outside just to connect myself with nature......etc, etc ,OK OK,maybe I'm over doing it since it was only in my yard ...So ?.....LOL LOL. Now, back to the cigar . 1st Third- As I was expecting the cigar opened up on a floral note with a bit of saltyness at the start on the lips. The grassy & earthy mix was the dominate taste up front. 2nd Third- The cigar stayed on It's floral taste with a stronger accent on earthy mix with some nuttyness but on the whole the cigar is not evolving to fuller or richer notes but is however very enjoyable. 3rd Final - The cigar did not evolve much more on the last third but stood steady on it's Floral tastes with flashs of coffee at the end but above all, the cigar did not get hot or harsh and stayed very pleasent and enjoyable . Very much an old style Havana, a bit like a ERdM in the old days , sweet, aromatic and comfortable. What more could I ask for on a nice afternoon ? Un grand merci Frank, Thank you all for reading.
