Chunks96ss Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 So I'm new to CC and I'm the type of guy who goes all in in trying something new. So when it comes to cigars I like to usually try each vitola of each brand to decide which I like the best and usually go for the box purchase. But with CC there's like well over 10 different sizes for the 5 brands I want to try. So do you guys think it's worth getting every size to try or just stick to a few?

There are samplers you can try or make your own.
Rushman Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Sample first --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631812,-87.070598
CaptainQuintero Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 The petit coronas are all very good indicators of each brand, picking up a DC, robusto and corona/CG would probably not hurt either
Chunks96ss Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 The next hard part is finding the different sizes, some sizes are sold out
maverickdrinker Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 agree with Frank. Sample as much as you can before committing to a box. Buy the biggest storage that you can afford if you decide to go off the deep end and start to buy boxes. You will be surprised at how fast it will fill up. Have fun trying new stuff. Good luck.

Good luck. this is great advice. sample as much as you can, and buy a massive storage unit
Chunks96ss Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 I agree trying out the new stuff is gonna be fun, I have 2 humidors and a cooler already filled with NC, I know I know, lol
brazoseagle Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 The petit coronas are all very good indicators of each brand, picking up a DC, robusto and corona/CG would probably not hurt either x2 get a Petit Corona sampler and a Piramide Sampler
Chunks96ss Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 I was talking about singles, I don't think I would buy one box unless I was really sure
CigarAsh Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I was where you're at about a year ago. Started out by buying a robusto sampler from the czar along with some other mixed singles. Gave me a really good idea of what I liked most. Started buying boxes, met other people smoking cubans to share and trade with. Ordered another sampler of mixed sticks. Rinse, Repeat. I'm now a happy, degenerate CC smoker like the rest on here.
Chunks96ss Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 I was thinking of getting a robusto sampler just to keep me busy while I try to find a wide selection of singles I can get

It will take a while to try everything so just make a start and sit back and enjoy what you smoke, there is no rush to try everything at once
Squarehead Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I'm with Frank and Art on this one same here
canadianbeaver Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I have been buying a box here and there with another member and then we trade half and half. Therefore we end up with twice the amount of variety of cigars. Just a thought. Lisa
SurpriseMVP Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 My advice would be to buy a couple boxes of good smokes and trade a portion of each box for assorted singles with other members here. Buying a whack of singles can be a very expensive proposition. Also I would be careful to avoid boxes of the milder smokes to start off with. I found that there was a transition period for the palate going from ncs to ccs where I couldn't really appreciate some of the more subtle characteristics of the milder Cuban smokes. Good Luck! +1 here. Good one to start with is BOLI IMO. This one got me started and I now I have come full circle to apprecite a milder CC with tons of flavors.
Wil Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I like the random approach. Pick a heap of singles with no rhyme or reason - just make sure you get at least two or three of each.
maverickdrinker Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Box worthy smokes Cohiba lanceros, robustos Cohiba BHK 54 RA Allones extras RASS Cohiba siglo I, ii, IV and vi Trinidad fundadores Montecristo especial no. 1
Chunks96ss Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 Ok what is worthwhile single, lol
Wil Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I would always try a single of something before I buy a box. Any cigar is box worthy if you like it.
BurbankStogieLover Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 i started off with the samplers. but they take a bit to get to me so by the time they had arrived i had already ordered a few boxes. thats whats great about the reviews tge boys do. i listen to the flavors there tasting and if its something that sounds like what i like i buy it. they haven't steared me wrong yet.

Before you buy anything, I need to know what you're interested in so I can bring a little sampler to the herf tomorrow. That is if you're still going. I can't promise much, but I'm sure I could hit a few.
fingerburner Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 It's a slippery slope that begins with a single cigar and will likely eventuate into a journey without end. It's truly glorious when you think about it
