Rogers72 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 My wife and I have a game we play called High/Low. If we take a trip for a week, at the end, we sit back and recall our one "high" and our one "low". Occasionally, even at the end of a day, we will recall our "High" and our "Low". We always play it on New Years Eve for the preceding year. I am a lucky man this year. I had a hard time picking between many "Highs" and a hard time finding a single definitive "Low". There have been years in the past where the opposite was true so it all comes out in the wash i guess. My "High" for 2011 was the birth of my son. My low, although so trivial in comparison was that we are significantly worse off financially than we were this time a year ago. The "Low" results from decisions that we made ourselves in hopes that they will pay future dividends so its really not all that bad I guess. I'd love to hear yours!
aes8 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 High = Getting married (second cermony) in my Uncle's back yard in Seal Beach Low = Having the renter in my condo move out and being force to come up with the mortgage payment out of my cigar budget for 5 months.
dicko Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 High - completing my university degree, and securing a job in my field. Low- zero assets, zero cash. I had to do a lot of no pay or low pay volunteering/internships, plus had to work less at casual jobs so I could study longer for the tough final exams, so this year has been Owe my mum and brother a few grand no cigar purchases in 6 months, ouch haha
Rushman Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 High: getting married and moving (albeit likely not permanent) to Playa del Carmen/finally getting into the cigar biz which was a dream. Low: although it pales in comparison, quit my corp America job so very low cash flow and depleting assets. Wouldn't trade this experience for anything. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631761,-87.070598

riazp Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 cool thread my high point was probably the road trip me and 3 of my best mates too to Atlantic city in March, epic weekend to say the least My low point, although I have a very good job, its not one that I really enjoy. but this made me realise that i need to go back to school and get a new degree...so we'll have a high point in 2012

TWalker Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Wow, what a year! Happy New Year to all you BOTL's and SOTL's.. My high of 2011 was finally buying a retirement property in Mexico. My low of 2011 was driving my son to the airport when he flew out west to study for his masters. I was a single dad for a long time and it's strange and lonely around here without him. At least he's home for the holidays and we enjoyed a cigar together yesterday.
aavkk Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Great thread! My high of 2011 was our 8 month trip which my wife and I completed in May. We started in Nepal and finished in New Zealand. It truly was the trip of a lifetime including 5 days in Brisbane with our amazing hosts here at FOH. My low of 2011 is having to live in a Basement apartment while I build the business back up that I left to pursue the trip of the lifetime. We wanted to move straight to Charleston after returning from the trip but my business partners wanted me in NY for a year. Work is going even better than expected and in hindsight it was an incredibly small price to pay. Were moving to Charleston in May and expect 2012 to be the best yet. In fact I'm about to buy my first box of cigars in over a year. Happy New Year all!
