I'm am definitely coming and I have two guests that are tentative. I'll need to contact them and let them know of the finalized plans.

Freakin' awesome. Well done lads.

I've got my hotel all booked up. Frank just relayed me details, so I'll be getting the train booked up. I'll get this payment sent out shortly this week too, then.

The only thing that could make all this go sideways for me is if the Mrs. decides to crap out her kid early. Her due date is Feb. 14th, and she saw her OB last week, and he said that he wouldn't let her go past Feb. 5th or so, that he would induce her before then if not already on her own. So, I just hope she doesn't up the ante, and end up going three or even four weeks early!!!!

Lol Keith! that would be a kick in the ballz!

Great event guys, can't wait !

I'm in of course and I think I can speak for Yann too because we have a room booked together at the Square Philips.

I'll have the Beef tartare for the main course and I'm in for the menu with wine. Any idea what wine will be served ?

For the meet and greet, I plan to bring a bottle of Jack Daniel's. Will the hotel provide the glasses and ice or it's bring your own ?

Here's the menu :

Little update here Guys,

After talking with some of the boys, and reading freefallguy's post, I want to basically imitate what Frank did at the Toronto Herf. Basically everyone brings and donates one or two cigars, cuban or top end non-cuban (fuente opus x, padron anniversary series, htf n-c's) and then at the event we'll sell raffle tickets. so it would be really awesome if everyone brought one or two cigars for this. Also if you have anything you want to donate for the raffle that would be really nice too! PM me if you have any questions.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, you little MOTHER!!!!!! LOL. I've already been cooking something up, but I just haven't been able to post it yet! SOB!!! :P

Hang on then....

Okay, so I've got two different ideas of something cool to do for this herf. Yes, as Riaz mentioned, Frank and Tom did some awesome work with the cigar raffle at the Toronto MegaHerf, and I figured that he and/or someone else would want to do something like that for the Montreal one. So, I brainstormed a bit, and came up with two ideas (well, in all reality, I've had the one idea for about a month, and Nino's posts over the last few days gave me the other idea).

Idea # 1:

I'd like to have a 50/50 sort of raffle for a "cigar swag" gift basket. Basically, I have about $250 worth of cigar-related stuff that I really don't need. Don't get me wrong - none of it is junk. It's just a bunch of stuff that I don't need due to having too much of something, or not needing it due to one reason or another, and/or some stuff that I've got as freebies or customer-appreciation thank-yous, but that I just absolutely wouldn't feel right in "selling" to someone. Everything from a whiskey flask/cigar tube/cutter kit, to some blank stick-on cigar labels (for labelling singles), to some Madelaine PG solution, to a golfing cigar holder, etc., etc. A bunch of stuff that all together retails around $250 CDN or so. So, I was thinking of bringing it all in a big basket, I'd donate that to the cause, and then everyone could buy 50/50 tickets ($2 each, or an arms length for $20 or so??), and then all the money would go directly to Rob's/freefallguy's mission in Nicaragua.

Idea # 2:

Nino mentioned about the Cigarrignac. I've been chatting with him about how to potentially go about ordering some from the manufacturer, and get some shipped over here. I'd see about getting a couple of bottles - one as a shared bottle for the pre-event gathering for all to share, and then another bottle to be raffled off / bidded on. A very unique and apparently quite tasty treat, appealling to the cigar-centric nature of many of us. So, after the purchase costs covered by any bidding price, the proceeds then would go to the Nicaraguan mission. With the purchase costs of these two bottles (and any potential duties/taxes), we'd do up one bottle at the pre-herf event for everyone to get a chance to enjoy a taste - something fairly special and unique. Then, the other unopened bottle would go at the middle/end of the night to the highest bidder - bidding would start at the purchase price for the two bottles (expected around $130-$150 CDN or so), again with all proceeds past that to go to the mission in South America.

So, I'm wondering what everyone would think about both of these ideas. Just some thoughts. If everyone likes them, I'll get some pictures and full descriptions up of the swag basket, and then I'll also start getting things rolling with the Cigarrignac also.

I like the basket idea, we could also add it to Riaz's idea. You would get a big cigar basket plus a a bunch of CC's.

The bigger it is, the more attractive and the more tickets people would buy

Posted

Thanks Simon. I think maybe a couple of different raffle items. With the cigars and swag basket in the same batch of raffle draws / tickets, it would be the same batch of tickets, and then just a different winner / ticket for each item. I wouldn't want to get the basket too big, with all the cigars and everything too. I think it would probably be best with multiple prizes, to give more people a chance to win something nice - me personally, I'd spend more money to have a chance to potentially win at say 3 or 4 items worth about $200 each, rather than just a single chance/item that's worth $700 or so. That's what I was thinking anyways. But, group decision maybe.

Then, just separate bidding for the Cigarrignac if we do that also.

Keith i'm loving your enthousiasm and generosity. I think a bunch of prizes is the way to go. more things to win more ticket's we'll sell, more money we'll raise. If Anyone wishes to donate items for the raffle, it can be anything cigar related, drink related, or just a 20$ gift card that you deceided to buy and donate, whatever, feel free to do so, either post your donations here, or via pm with me directly. Its going to a great cause. If you are not aware of the cause here are a few links :
