Hoping to place my first Czar order by the end of the year but I do not know what to get. I'm new to anything Habanos so I do not know where to begin. I was hoping to get some guidance. First off I'm not a full-bodied guy. I like a mild-medium smoke. I don't require very complex smokes either. Something that is as smooth as silk and tastes of milky caramel coffee the whole way through is perfect for me. As far as size go my perfect cigar would be 46-49 ring and no more than 133mm. From what I've read I'm thinking maybe the HdM short LE Pyramides? I'd like to try a few different types before I buy a box of anything.

Thanks in advance.

Try the splits.

You have the petit corona split and the robusto split.

I wouldn't go all in on an EL as you are still deciding on your path, the splits are a good affordable way to ease into things.

Some of them are full bodied so you'll probably want to try those after a good meal.

Sounds like some of the milder petit coronas would be a good choice, but if you can convince yourself to stretch a bit on length, try the HdM Le Hoyo Des Dieux. Fantastic cigar on the mild-to-medium end of the spectrum.

HDM or RyJ would be your standard milder marcas. Can't go wrong with the PC Splits but you could also just email [email protected] and ask for a sampler to your specifications and price range :)

In the category of 46-49 RG and maximum length of 133mm there are five cigars in current production.

- El Rey del Mundo Choix Suprême

- H. Upmann Connoisseur No.1

- Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion No.4

- Saint Luis Rey Regios

- Vegas Robaina Famosos

Having smoked two of them, the first and the last on the list, I wouldn't count them to belong to the "mild-category" (just my own opinion).

According to Habanos's list of strength of marques, two mildest would be H.Upmann and El Rey del Mundo followed by Romeo y Julieta.

Upmann Connie One, sounds like it fits the bill. Make sure they have some age so they mellow a bit, but i think this meets your criteria.

I just had a Por Larranaga Robusto and have to say I found it very (enjoyably) mild..the first one I have had...

Try some Fonseca #1s before they disappear. They've recently been discontinued.

I'm a big fan of the PL robustos. Mild smoke with a great floral, creamy caramel sweetness to them. I've bought a couple of HQ boxes of them, one to smoke and one to put away and forget for a while. They're smoking great right now.

Aged plpc would meet caramel flavors. Milk coffee with some chocolate make me think of vr famoso.

Rafael Gonzalez petit coronas, nice milder bodied cigar with excellent Cuban flavors, suprised nobody mentioned this marca.

Choix supreme for me.floral mild smoke, lovely, plenty of smoke.

Also seconding the fonseca no1,mild woody cigar,great....

I would recommend Hoyo de Monterrey Palmas Extra, mild to medium ,tasty profil, handmade

and a great everyday smoke.

I hope you try these two: Por Larranaga Petit Corona, Ramon Allones Specially Selected.

Obviously people missed that the original poster asked for something "46-49 ring and no more than 133mm". (Hoyo des Dieux = 42 ring, 155mm long… spot-on :rotfl: )

The PLPC is just a bad choice for a 1st box of habanos; what if he gets a "bad" cab, i.e. 50 pc that need 5 years to be smokable?

I think VR Famosos, Choix Suprême, Exhibicion No4, Epicure No.2, would fit the bill.

The Connie 1 is 48x127 FWIW

Yes but it's not exactly a "mild" cigar…

I find it on the light side of medium, and it has the milk coffee hes looking for. I think if he can find some with some age on them, he would be very happy. Just wanted to make sure it was in there, as they really impressed me lately and the friend I shared them with. It's also at a very reasonable price point for someone starting a collection.

HU Mag's , HDM DD's, VR Famosa,

Other advice.....if you are in the US, order them now or wait until after Christmas!

Thanks everyone for all the reccomendations. I'll let you all know what I end up getting.

And Brazoseagle, why not order during that time? Holiday price jump? Shipping issues?

Try the Montecristo Open Eagle, its light cigar good for begginers, although in the Swiss market they cosider it medium to full, but its a good smoke.

Thanks again. I'll write that one down as well.

Just to clarify (in case this sways your reccomendations), I'm not new to cigars. I've been smoking them for the last 15 years. I just prefer the milder side most of the time. Kind of the same as my beer. I LOVE dark stouts and hoppy IPA's but 90% of the time I drink Miller Lite. The only thing I'm extreme with is my coffee. Has to be espresso.

Sorry for the misunderstanding,i think you will enjoy the Monte open eagle, although it did not receive fantastic reviews i believe its an enjoyable smoke.

Choix Supreme is the mildest of the bunch. ERDM goes for subtle mild flavours and the good ones are some of the best mild cubans you will ever taste (alongside la gloria cubana etc).
