What cigars have you stocked up on ?

For 35 years I bought cigars and smoked them and ordered some more, aging cigars was something I never thought about or heard about. Living in the no no land probably didn't help.

I started like most, happy to have a desktop full of cigars. Then another desktop, a third, then..........

Don't think of myself as a collector but a hoarder, fear is a strong motivator.

Some days I think it would be easier if I was a Partagas man, one brand, lots of Lucy's, Shorts and 898's. But I smoke everything from Bolivar to Vegas Robaina, only brand I've skipped is Guantanamera.

In 05 the barn doors came off and the hoarding started. The only advise I got, which I ignored was stick to the classics, Monte #2, Punch Punch, RyJ Churchills.........

Looking at my inventory list I thought the cigars I have the most of must say something about which cigars I'm counting on to age well.

Mag 48.....for me some of the best quality tobacco I've seen come out of Cuba in years

Mag 50....hoping time is good to these

PLPC.....not hard to get a big stock of these since you have to get 50 at a time and I'm a big PC smoker

PL Encantos.....they had me with the size, showing my age

RASS.....love the brand and what choice do I have if I want a 1 hr RA smoke

RASCC....love the brand, the size, the price

RyJ PC....sentimental choice

RyJ Cazadores.....rumor is this is the best quality tobacco this brand is putting out right now

My purchasing was quite slow paced until HSA started freaking me out with their discontinuation of some of my favs.

So I went and bought every Punch RS 11 (7)and 12 (4), SS 1 (2) and Boli CEs (6) I could find. I'm with you as to the H. Upmann 50s, have 4 of these lying in my cabinet.

I love PCs as well, so have quite a few in rotation (enough to allow me proper aging) of Party shorts, boli PCs, SCdlH PCs and RASCCs.

Also, love the HdM des dieux, based on the always excellent recommendation of El Pres, so I buy whatever I find of them since they're hard to get by in the UAE.

I have always been a buy, smoke, buy, smoke kind of guy. Sure, I have had some fully humidors/lockers in my day, but moving alot (5 times in 11 years) isnt real kind to cigars.

Now that I am in Mexico and have a smoke shop of my own,I find it very hard to stock up on anything personally. I can either smoke off the shelf (sure, it dilutes profits) or buy a cabinet, sell 10 sticks to pay for said cabinet and smoke the other 40.

Of course, if i knew about Czar's online locker years back, that would have been smart.

Once I return to civilization and to being a capitalist pig (1-2 years), I will start stockng up again. I cant easily or affordably replicate the daily sellection I have now, so I am not going to buck the trend.

Still only about 4 months into my cuban phase of cigar smoking. So far I've bought multiples of the Por Larranaga Robustos RE. Absolutely love these. A milder cigar with great flavors. Monte 2s and Monte Petite Edmundos are getting stocked away. Sitting on my deck and smoking a fantastic Cohiba Robusto now. These are on the list to start stocking up on. Partagas 898, HDM #2, PLPC, Monte #4are all regulars.

Just ordered a batch of singles from the Czar to try some new cigars. Mag 48, SirWinnstons, Behike 52, a few different Cohibas. So many new cigars to try.

P.S. diamond dog.- you really should try to put away a few cigars. You'll never have enough a this rate!

Usually it's 4 boxes and maybe a box to smoke along the way.

If it's something fancy like Winnies I stop at 2, don't know why?

At least I know where to go when I run out of Encantos.

I'm still in the buy and try phase with Habanos. I could imagine stocking up on Boli CEs if those start trickling back in to stock. I know they're discontinued in 2012 but will HSA keep selling them until then?

On the NC side, I'm planning a few box purchases soon to put down -- Tatuaje brown label and Opus X or Anejos would absolutely be at the top of that list. Just need more space. :-)

The only cigars I have had more than 1 box of at a given time is Partagas Shorts, SLR Pacificos, and RASS. I've got cigar ADD so have a cab of PLPC, and a box of BBF, 898, Monte 2, SCDLH Principes, Upmann Coronas Major, Upmann Regalias, Upmann Epicures, CoRo, SLR Regios, ERDM CS, and RG CE.

As Cigaraholic said in the first cigar mentioned.... The H. Upmann Magnum 48. That was a great cigar when smoked young and getting better with every year that goes by.. An all time favorite of mine and I can't wait to see what 5 years does to these beautiful cigars.
