laficion Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 There seems to be 2 Regional QdO releases going on for 2011 The first , ok, we heard about them and Lisa has already posted a Photo of the QdO Robusto Superiores Asia Pacific Regional 2011 and Trevor has also added the cigar on his cuban cigar website. Here is Lisa's Photo: Now I've just seen some photos of the QdO Robusto Embajador France Regional 2011 on the Habanos S.A. website. Here is a photo & the link http://www.habanos.com/article.aspx?aid=495&type=1〈=en I'm going to check this out since CA magazine has just announced that the QdO Regionals for France have arrived in France. Well now !!!! first we almost never hear about the QdO's for years and now we have 2 Robusto for 2 different world markets in the same year. If Rob or Trevor have any info on this, could you update us on this ?

rfenst Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Interesting, yes. if they are both good, they will have hit a grand slam. my guess will be different dimensions and bands. IMO, the fact that we hear so little about this brand is a good reason to make a regional release out of it as a marketing tool for the regular line.
CaptainQuintero Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 *sob* England shamed in the World Cup and then HSA give out a bonus RE QDO to France for the Whooping they gave us *sniff* Maybe one day we will get QDO, even access to regular production will do, might have to wait until we play the Aussies at cricket again to wait for a reward from HSA But seriously, what kind of marketing decision is it to make QDO completely unavailable in the UK, and then decide that QDO doesn't get enough sales and delete half the marka
riazp Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Maybe one day we will get QDO, even access to regular production will do, might have to wait until we play the Aussies at cricket again to wait for a reward from HSA LOL CQ, comment of the day
Trevor2118 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 There seems to be 2 Regional QdO releases going on for 2011 If Rob or Trevor have any info on this, could you update us on this ? The Asia Pacific was a known release. The French release is totally new to me. It is also the first time that an anousement regarding the release of a regional edition has been announced on the Habanos SA website. Speachless!
El Presidente Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 If Rob or Trevor have any info on this, could you update us on this ? You get a glimpse now why Jose Candia resigned from marketing Guy I have no idea except that they are idiots. Will try to find out for you.
rckymtn22 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Why didn't they just release it as an LE. Would have made more sense.
Michel1968 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Good, I'm not the only one utterly surprised! Makes me feel a whole lot better...
aes8 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I think you guys are giving H SA too much credit. I think that these are the same cigar, same blend with just a differnet second band. How about a blind comparison tasting from the new deck?

How about a blind comparison tasting from the new deck? By all rights if they are the same Vitola they have to be the same blend. Given they are being produced at the identical time....they should be almost mrror images of each other.
in0gravity Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Hi Guy, thanks for posting. Do you knos if they are available in Paris already? I will be there on Monday. Also, what happened to the Vegas Robaina Petit Robusto? Regards lars
AlohaStyle Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 That is crazy... I am looking forward to these. Rob, any price/stock updates?
CBL Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I'm interested to see how much the prices will vary and to what degree which market will react positive to these. Hopefully both of course, but QdO's was originally just for the French market, so who knows how they'll take to it. Anyway, anytime a brand like this gets some extra exposure it should be a good thing, regardless of the marketing mistakes made during the release
Smallclub Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 By all rights if they are the same Vitola they have to be the same blend. According to the magazine l'Amateur de Cigare, the French RE is a magicos (52rg x 115mmm) Needless to say, nobody in the french cigar lovers community has been consulted on the subject (as far as I know, but I don't think that Guy will contradict me). An other unilateral decision by the secret society that serves as an importer/distributor here.
riazp Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Gotta agree with Robs statement, pretty much idiots..
Smallclub Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Gotta agree with Robs statement, pretty much idiots.. Idiot for what exactly? For releasing two similar cigars in two different markets, one at each end of the earth, without any interaction between them? What's the problem?

doncici Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 I think is possible to be a same blend ... generaly in french we have only one Er by years ... A new fonseca may not have made the joy of the amateur, and Coprova made a new order with a Quay d'orsay a french cigar cuban ... PS sorry for my english
Colt45 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 According to the magazine l'Amateur de Cigare, the French RE is a magicos (52rg x 115mmm) Two different sizes then, which would make a little more sense. Thanks for the update.
Trevor2118 Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 According to the magazine l'Amateur de Cigare, the French RE is a magicos (52rg x 115mmm) Any information on the size of the SBN packaging (10 or 25) and number of boxes made?
Smallclub Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Any information on the size of the SBN packaging (10 or 25) and number of boxes made? Not yet, Trevor, but a complete review is scheduled for the November issue. All these infos should be available then – I'll let you know.
