El Presidente Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Saint Luis Rey Double Corona Group Tasting We commenced this in 2008 with two cabinets of SLR DC (07) set aside. Each year 20 designated tasters are sent a cigar and they are reviewed with the aim to assess the evolution of the cigars (same box code/same batch). It has certainly been interesting to date. We hold the cigars so that we can be certain of the storage conditions. They are sent out at the same time and reviewers are asked to review over a two week period/30 days post arrival. We will get the cigars out this week. Please aim to review within 14 days of October 1. Lisa will be in touch with all tasters over the next few days.
CaptainQuintero Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Sounds fun! Have you a link to how previous tastings have gone?
Colt45 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Have you a link to how previous tastings have gone? The first three years are pinned in the review forum.

Guest rob Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Awesome! Spring is in the air here.... and double coronas are my cigar of choice on the weekends!!
bassman Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Not officially involved, but can say AEP FEB 07 have been awesome from the beginning. AEP MAR 07 not so much. What a difference a month makes.
Fuzz AI Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I remember when these reviews were meant to be held in February...

First Lady Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Fuzz are they making you work at the Big W for a change LOLOL you have been quite honey
shrink Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 My sample SLR DC arrived safely today. I'm looking forward to reviewing this one. What makes this all the more interesting to me is that I have a full, uncracked cab of ENE07's. They might be approachable now, although my guess is that another two to three years will tell the tale. Thanks ever so much for allowing me to participate in this longitudinal study.
jay8354 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Fuzz are they making you work at the Big W for a change LOLOL you have been quite honey Lisa, Fuzz had a holiday for the snow then a nose job.... and had the effects of a cold while recovering from his surgery. Ok, so it is not really plastic surgery, more the fact he needed to fix his big snoz to breathe when he slept. That's why he was so quiet, too much pain... Well, he has apparently recovered and got back to work this week. I will be seeing him this weekend, so will check whether his looks has improved.
Fuzz AI Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Fuzz are they making you work at the Big W for a change LOLOL you have been quite honey Work? What the heck is that? Rob doesn't just call me Costanza because I'm short and fat...
asmith Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Work? What the heck is that? Rob doesn't just call me Costanza because I'm short and fat... You balding now as well?
Fuzz AI Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 You balding now as well? Thankfully, that's one charestic I do not share with Costanza!!
GTS21 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Cigar received (a little banged up but should be smokeable). Thanks!
semery74 Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 One of my top 5. This cigar is great young or aged. And it is the least priced double corona. I've been buying a new cab every two years to perpetuate the supply well in to retirement. I can't wait to have one at the 20yr mark. I'm thinking that I'll have my Will modified so everyone gets one at my funeral.

As usual I'll be tailing this group tasting from my own cabs. As always, this is fun to read.
