El Presidente Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I assume Fathers Day is not too different anywhere in the world but what did you get up to? Ken normally goes and throws stones at the orphanage. Smithy take annual leave around that time and is uncontactable.

investandprosper Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Breakfast this morning with the family, followed by church and a lunch with my wife and parents. After putting the kids down for their naps, I gathered up the fishing equipment to do some evening casting, and am now relaxing with a cup of coffee and an HQ Monte No. 2. Father's Day is turning out just wonderfully here!
riazp Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Had a brunch with the family and my parents, then took my son to the park in the afternoon, then a pasta dinner, then out again for some ice cream, put him to bed and now i'm with a RyJ Duke to end my evening.
cigcars Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 My brother and myself went over to sister and brother-in-law's house and had visit from their father-in-law. Very, very momentous and moving family experience all together. A tad rare for all of us together as such. Mostly relived the memories of our debaucherous young days!
Bahnofstrasse Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Little League Baseball doubleheader this afternoon with my son. LGC Imensos then into a Cuaba Salamones post game... Imensos was way underfilled and proved to be disappointing. Cuaba Salamones was quite nice, medium, but still lacking the depth to make it a "go to" stick. Burgandy peppered, Tri-tip on the Barbie for the evening meal, with Erdinger Weissbier my beverage of choice.
bc8436 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Traditionally I celebrate Father's Day on August 8th (because the numbers 8-8 sounds like papa in Mandarin). My father passed away last year, so it's been a reflective day for me. Spent the day at home, smoked one of his favorite cigars (Lusitania) and watched US Open on TV.
Fuzz Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Even though it wasn't Father's Day in Aus, I put a deposit down on an Omega Planet Ocean for the old man.
NitrousPurger Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Bought ma Daddy a motorcycle! So he can stop bitching about how much he wants a bike. He liked it a lot! plus I get to ride it so it works out
PigFish Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 For me it meant a day off working on my house. Depending on the weather I am either working on Lady Piggy's master bedroom or in "Bin Ladens lair." That would be hell, or my attic! I would have spent it working on my desiccant media humidification device but I was not that lucky. Today I spent some time again explaining a little about RH and temperature. I smoked my last dress box Partagas PC from the last millennium, and a JL #1 at my mother-in-laws. As usual I had to fix a handful of things while I was there. Look over her brokerage statement, make changes to her medication list and tell her that she really needs to get that heart procedure that she really does not want to get!!! Oh yeah... and set the digital thermostat 1 degree different!!! That 1 degree makes a huge difference when you are 83, I guess. I can't tell you how many times I have reprogrammed that ******* thermostat 1 degree different. I guess as the dollar is sinking, so is the degree! I had an idea of a new project for the site (this one), and will likely start a little work on it tomorrow. More "fun with humidor science," as you might have guessed. I am kinda' excited about it. It should be fun. That was my day RA... Oh, the grandkids called and told me they got me something for father's day. Probably my own "RisK" game... or a new tin of pellets for the pellet rifle. I am thinking that their dad just wants to park them over here for a few days. He says I can put them to work in the attic!!! I don't know about how well construction will mix with the boys... city kids! But any kid can clean up horse ****. And I got my share of that and enough shovels. -Piggy
benjaminbbush Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Best (and first) Father's Day for me! My 22 DAY old daughter spent the day allowing me to change her diapers, give her a bath and feed and swaddle her! It was truly an outstanding day for me as I am just thankful that she and her mom are both happy and healthy! In her 33rd week of pregnancy, my wife started having complications that got real serious really quickly. My daughter was born on May 28th which was 7 weeks early---her due date is not until July 15th. But the doctors and nurses performed spectacularly and now I have a healthy wife and a happy, healthy (somewhere around) 5.5 lb daughter. Who knew sleep deprivation could be so rewarding?!? I had hoped to smoke that 2003 Cohiba LE that a friend gave me but I just could not fit it in with all the feedings and dirty diapers (who new that a 3 week old little girl could make such a mess?????) Except for baby duties (and doodies), I was pretty much exempt from chores today. This will probably be the last such day and from now on my Father's Day may resemble PigFish's! Hope all had a good day if it was Father's Day for merely just another day as Ken pointed out. (the orphans probably started throwing the rocks back at him)
Rogers72 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 A VERY slow day around my house...just like I like it! Woke up around 7 to Belgian waffles. Then went to the early service at our church. The rest of the day was spent lounging around on the couch, playing with the kids, and watching Rory NOT choke at the US Open. It was too hot to go outside! I enjoyed an 07 Siglo IV after the sun went down. Having lost my father over a decade ago, this day is always very reflective for me. I love the way a good cigar and some time alone with your thoughts can transport the ones you have loved and lost back into your presence.
LeafLover Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Leftovers from the previous night's party (son's bday/high school graduation party), lounging while listening to daughters sing karaoke- they're good (contemplating on whether to develop their talent by sending them to formal singing lessons), then overall lazy-ing around the house. Smoked a Bolivar Coronas Gigantes and a Rafael Gonzales Coronas Extra. Both spectacular.
IcedCanuck Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Woke up, showered, ate breakfast, called the old man but got the answering machine so I left a message. Then I proceeded to drive an hour and a half with friends to our destination for a day of white water rafting fun!
scinmyheart Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 about the most uneventful Father's Day for me...wouldn't have even known it had I not looked at the calendar I have a 22 yr old stepson that must have misplaced his phone yesterday...what is Father's Day?...no big deal on that, though as I don't expect any hooha nor want any my Daddy died 5 years ago, so no call or visit there but my wife and I did have a couple over to swim for the afternoon
Maron76 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 you idiot. even i know that "our" father's day is not for months yet you have caved in so completely now that we are expected to shift that to fit in with your markets? shame, ayala, shame. next you'll be wearing an all blacks jersey in a sad and desparate attempt to recover the tattered remains of your kiwi market! Wow, the orphanage must have been closed so he came here to throw stones instead, LMAO. You two make me laugh
Orion21 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 A pat on the back and my wife's credit card bill...
Mr.T Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Got home from a work trip to Brazil on Father's Day. My daughter and wife met me at the airport with a balloon and card. We grilled that evening and had a nice family picnic in the backyard. Saving a cigar to smoke with my dad sometime this week.
BatFastard Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 My first fathers day as my daughter was born 5 weeks ago!! Woke up for an early breakfast with my brother, then off to a local course for a quick round of golf. Smoked a couple beauty PLPC's and then followed it up with lunch for my Dad, and then dinner with the wife's father. A jam packed day and thankfully was able to sneak a couple of cigars in.
Plato Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I posted this on another thread on the water hole before seeing thing one: My father came over to my house (we declared it a no woman day), and we grilled a leg of lamb. I paired it with (two) lovely bottles of a Croatian red wine called Bura Dingac (Made from a Croatian grape called Plavac Mali---which is supposedly the genetic "father" of the Zinfandel grape. :::NOTE: Ken can you confirm or deny this?::: ) This wine is LOADED with terroir. Here are some photos of the vineyard in Croatia from the winemakers website. It's right on the croatian coast: Anyways, after a great meal with great wine and great conversation we had a cigar. Now if you know my father, you know that he has never had a cigar. He was hesitant to have one with me. We both smoked a Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona. Afterwards, he asked me FOR ANOTHER CIGAR, and said "Wow, now I know why you smoke cigars every day. I can't believe what I've been missing out on." I was thrilled to say the least. We smoked the cigars, we drank some great rum, he told me stories from his life. We talked and drank until two am that night. It was one of the best nights I have ever had with my father. And I am so happy that I got him to finally have, and enjoy, a good cigar.
BobKincaid Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 The day was spent in close company with my family. We were driving back from Minnesota to the Appalachians. In southwest Wisconsin, we met up with friends from the show, had nice conversation and a look-see at an utterly beautiful section of country, then dinner. All along the way, we had wonderful conversation, observation and generally a warm, close family experience. Got into Madison late Sunday night, with my 17 y/o kissing me goodnight and wishing me happy Father's Day. Once all was settled, I walked outside into a cool, misty Wisconsin night, applied flame to a Boli CE and sat in tired, pleasant reflection on a most ordinarily pleasant day.
