I find that I truly enjoy a cup of joe with a cigar. However, I noticed that I do like particular smokes that "work" better with coffee than others.

What are your favorites?

Me, I like Cohiba Siglo I, Monte 4 or 5, Dip5, Bolivar CJ or PC with my coffee.

I find JL2, Punch PP or PC, Partagas Shorts to clash...

For me its the RASS, I always gets tons of chocolate flavor out of it which goes very well with a cup of coffee.

I'm not intending on hijacking this thread, but I have something to say about pairing a drink other than coffee with a cigar. Last night, I had a Padron 1926 natural wrapper paired with Fonseca Tawny Port. I felt as though the port (specifically the alcohol) masked or otherwise did not allow me to taste the cigar. Thoughts?

I am quite picky about cigars for coffee because i love combining the 2 on a saturday morning.

- Cohiba Secretos

- Hoyo du Maire, Epicure no.1

- PL Montecarlos, PCs, panatelas

- Fonseca KDTs

- JL no1s

etc

basically i like woody cedary creamy and/or cocoa style cigars without fruitiness or spiciness to go with coffee - a matter of taste

I don't think I have ever had a cigar with coffee. I don't know if it's a morning thing or if I just don't get to smoke that often that the opportunity has come up, or what. I have always thought that coffee is too similar and would coat the palate. However, after a recent Maduro 5, I can imagine it might just work.

Next time the weather is good and I can impose on my father's deck for brunch, I'll bring something that has been suggested (BBF or RASS, or maybe a Famoso!).

Cheers!

Great topic Mike. Ahh, cigars and coffee. Like beer and pretzels or nuts LOL sort of.

Currently my favorite coffee cigar has to be either a PLPC on marc or VR Famosos. The PL for the toasty caramel, the VR for it's smooth as silk dark roasted coffee bean and chocolate.

I will say those are my "current" favorite coffee cigars because I have a PSP box of H.Upmann Petit Corona taking a nap which I believe could take the crown. Even though Pres told me to dig in on it - I've got to respect such a beautiful box and give it a couple years. Of all PSP I've had the pleasure of purchasing, this one tops them all.

Any of my favorites go well with coffee. :2thumbs:

Most of the cigars that I like to smoke are robust and hold up to coffee. The problem is finding the coffee to hold up to the cigar. I roast my own coffee now and again... another subculture for those of you who love coffee, but often buy a blend that I can make strong, one that is not bitter or burnt. I hate burnt beans, such as Charbucks!

I think that rate that you drink and smoke is important. I drink my coffee slowly and keep it in an insulated rig. For dedicated smoking and drinking a PC works well for me. I would prefer to smoke a classic smoke, such as a Monte 1 Especial alone with little interference from strong drink, coffee or otherwise. -Piggy

I love all of these suggestions but have never tried such a pairing. I think that I shall have to experiment. This could take a while :2thumbs:

Depends on my mood.

Trinidad Reyes

Raphael Gonzalez PC

Monte Especial #2

Por Larranaga Montecarlos

Hoyo du Prince

The lattermost three are some of my favourites with coffee too. Yum-yum. :2thumbs:

Lately I've been drinking the 'Kicking Horse' stuff they sell at grocery stores. It's surprisingly good. Has anyone else tried it?

Personally, I just like the combo of coffee and a cigar.

PLPCs, Sig I & II, oh and the Trini Reyes. I prefer Petit Coronas or Half Coronas with my coffee.

Kicking Horse rocks! I think the Cliffhanger is my fave. But if you can find it, Oso *****'s roasts from Nelson, BC are amazing. The Meteor Blend or Espresso Blend are excellent, and they may ship. My local hippie food store carries it and I make a point of picking some up when in the Kootenays.

I also noticed that my local cigar shop carries Cuban Serrano and the other one (the red bag and the black bag). I always love the Cuban coffee as well.

Mmmm, I may have to go fire up a second espresso and maybe a Montecarlo.

I love smoking early in the morning with a few strong cups of coffee. What I usually reach for are Monte 4, Monte PE, or my fav morning smoke party SdC 3. But now down to my last box. So sad.
