El Capitan Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Help me pick a box for my Xmas present before I email Lisa. Already have a box of JL1's which have been supurb, and I'm looking to explore this vitola further. Cheers
cellinisart Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Siglo 4 are the best IMO of that list....if you dont want to spend that kind of money go for the mag 46 just be ready to rest the mag for a while.
Colt45 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Tough to pick just one. Love the Upmann and Bolivar, with the Hoyo coming in just behind. You could always go for a sampler of a few of each
ChanceSchmerr Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I voted SLR Serie A, but I would submit that the Punch Black Prince beats them all
Onsto Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Voted Mag 46 but really like the Epi 1 and the BCE too. Its basically a good format...
LeafLover Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 IMO the best one starts with a consonant letter. Personally I would start off the first order with a Boli CE (like Bster), then a two box purchase of the SLR A and Mag 46 for the second order.
yossie Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 46 magnum for me but mines are too strong, perhaps because of youngness.
winelover Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I went for the Siglo IV. BTW - You've put SLR serie A on there twice.
laficion Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Bolivar Corona Extra ........ ( even though it's a Franciscos and not a Corona Gorda) HdM Epicure 1 SLR Series A Plus all the others
PADDYWHACK121272 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 My head says Siglo iV my wallet says Mag 46
bigfunkyg Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 When on the Magnum 46's are great. My current stock came from 3 packs of tubos which have unfortunately been inconsistent. I really enjoy the flavour profile of the SLR A's but that might not be everyones cup of tea. I'm a fan of Punch Punch but they dont seem to get a whole lot of love around here. I don't have enough experience with the Siglo IV but it's on my list. G
tsolomon Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I would put the Mag 46 first and the Sig IV second. They are both good, but the Mag 46 is my go to cigar.
bassman Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Even though it's not a corona gorda, the BCE is one of my favorite cigars & gets my vote. At one time I would have said SLR Serie A, but that flavor profile changed drastically starting 2006 & to my taste, not for me any longer. If you can find 02 Serie A, grab them!
tigger Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Mag 46 is best overall, I think. They're quite consistent in my experience. They got my vote. Siglo IV at their best are unparalleled. But they're not always at their best. Love Bolivar CE's, but they aren't Corona Gordas.
joeypots Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 BCE the older the better. The loss of the 50 Cab presentation is a shame. My Mag 46s from '05 are terrible and the old adage that age will not fix a bad cigar applies. These have never tasted good. Series A and Siglo IV are great, but I like the BCE more.
mbrody Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Mag 46 08/09 are just too damn good and consistent. They get the vote simply because they have not let me down and I have the most experience with them. Second place would easily be the 08 JL1. Similiar consistency and strong flavors (although different) as displayed by the Mag46. Sort of like the Mag46s stepbrother.
thechenman Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I went with the Siglo IV, but close on the heels would be the Mag 4. It all comes down to your budget I gues..as you can't go wrong with either one.
Habanos2000 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Mag 46. The 08's I have, have just blown my socks off in terms of flavor, depth, richness, viscosity. what else can you ask for?
Dbone Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Our hosts stock of HQ and PSP Mag 46's are intoxicating in aroma, deep and rich in flavor, and excellent in construction. I can't believe how great they are currently. I'm smoking out if an HQ box with the PSP for aging. I may need to get a third real soon.
CigarZen Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 This is just a great size, and all are great. What is odd id that historically Punch specialized in this size: Black Prince, Punch Punch, Royal Selection 11, and the Super Selection 2. SS2s rock.
docbp87 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Looking at the list, I just realized that I have never smoked anything listed. I LOVE the CG size, but have never had a CC in the vitola, only NCs. Have some Mag 46's on the way thanks to Raymond, to fix this.
