cigcars Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Need to add the VR Famosos to that list. *They're there. They're the second from the bottom with the one vote*
thechenman Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Wait...where is the Montecristo Open option? Oh welll...then I guess I would have to go with the Trinidad Robusto Ts. Before the Ts came out in 09, it would have beent he CoRo hands down, but I would have to say that the Robusto Ts have eeked past the CoRos to become my favorite Robusto. Best thing is you don't have to wait on the Trini Ts...they are great here and now.
MrGlass Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 If I was actually going to part with the cash for one, it would have to be the Epicure No. 2. There are so many on that list that I am yet to try, including the CoRo, but the Epicure holds a special place in my heart.
Wil Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 CoRo is probably the best, IMO, but value for money puts PSD4 slightly ahead for me.
tdlfoto Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 As I've not had the pleasure of enjoying too many within this vitola, i will say the CoRo and BRC are my favourite so far. The PSD4 and HdM Epi2 I wasn't ovelry fond of.
winelover Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 For me cost is a factor that cannot be ignored. CoRo and Trini Robusto T's are typically nearly twice as expensive as any of the other robustos. If money is not a factor perhaps the Robusto T would get my vote. I went for PSD4 as they are top drawer robustos without the top drawer price.
Michel1968 Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 BRC... Rob T's are good but to be honest. they can be boring, CoRo equally good but the cost... Some unlucky affairs with RASS, D4 too much a smack in the face with too little behind it. ERdM CS might turn out to be the black horse. Got a handfull of singles from 2006 and they are delicious!
sepp Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 H. Upmann Connoisseur No.1 * woo hoo this was my 400th post
bigfunkyg Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 When it's on the Coro is the best. I have had some inconsistency over the past couple of years from a couple of boxes but oddly enough I smoked one last Friday and it was on. Fantastic. Others picks, BRC, Hoyo Epi 2, and RASS. RmJ Short Churchills had been not bad, but depends how you feel about the typical RnJ flavour profile.
kiwicrusaders Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 Its been interesting to see the Bolivar Royal Corona make have a significant increase in numbers over the last few days.
tsolomon Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Went for the VR Famoso as both the 08s and 09s are smoking well, but the RASS are right up there. Although I like the CoRo's a lot, their price puts them farther down my list. A rotation of VR's, RASS and H. Up Connie 1's works for me. I like the PSD4's, but just don't smoke them as often.
Leopolis Semper Fidelis Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Oh welll...then I guess I would have to go with the Trinidad Robusto Ts. Before the Ts came out in 09, it would have been the CoRo hands down, but I would have to say that the Robusto Ts have eeked past the CoRos to become my favorite Robusto. Best thing is you don't have to wait on the Trini Ts...they are great here and now. Now ain't that the truth!
frenchkiwi Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 For all the qualities you mentioned, For meIt has to be, Ramon Allones Specially Selected. I'm with Guy on this one. great whisky cigars
Laxman Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Have always been a big fan of CORU's but lately PSD4's have been smoking great and the price is right. I voted for the VRF's, have got a few PSP boxes and they have been a treat, definitely a dark horse but one hell of a cigar!
luliu518 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 The robusto's really hard to put together a choice, they have their own unique taste, I liked. Finally I put the vote for RASS.
stogieokie Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I'm not a fan of the Cohiba profile, so I voted SD4. They're tough to beat with five years of age on them IMO.
Matt Day Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 RC atm but just becuase just had a rather nice single but PDS4 not far behind
CohibaBehike Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 The next robusto on my list is the Trinidad Robusto T, I love this cigar!
Hugomarink Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Amazing that the SLR Regios are next to the bottom of the list. Such a great cigar. JL2 as well. Those might be my top choices, along with the RASS and Hoyo Epi2.
Coolio Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I've only smoked the HDM No2 and R&J SC in the Robusto vitola and the HDM wins it for me. Price wise as well, down here in Oz (Not kansas)! My Mrs has ordered a box of the Robusto 'Splits' for me and I can't wait to try some of the others in this poll. The Cohiba and Partagas scored well with everyone, so they'll be the first ones I'll be trying! My favourite stogie memory so far in my short career was when me and my mate Crumpy, after smoking mainly petit coronas for about 3 or 4 years, lit up a couple of HDM No 2's together. We both took our first draw and looked at each with this amazed "far out, how good was that???" look. The ease of the draw was amazing. We haven't gone back to the smaller gauge yet. Maybe those first two we had were just exceptional stogies, but I can't recall having a bad HDM Epi No2 yet. Have had a couple of dodgy R&J SC's though.
JohnnyC Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Out of all the ones on the list that I tried I would have to save the Trinidad Robusto T is my favorite. The construction, taste and aroma is what hooked me.
Samuli Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Hoya de Monterrey Epicure 2 - allways in my humidor. Close second VR Famosos.
goalie204 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 i agree that psd4 are too hit or miss, and yes when they are on they are fantastic, but i like knowing what i'm going to get out of a cigar (at least a bit) when i go to light up, for that reason i vote for trini robusto t or coro
michaelhealy Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Thats easy , PSD4 FTW PSD4 follwed by the Royal Corona
