kiwicrusaders Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 If you were buying a new box of robusto's today, what would your choice be, taking into account a combination of value, taste, consistancy and quality of construction. Update: As requested I have added two choices, not strictly Robusto's but close enough, besides I enjoy VR as well.

kiwicrusaders Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 Its (Cohiba) one of the few I havn't tried unfortunately... but knew that I would catch flack if I didn't have in the line-up. Let me know if my poll is missing any crucial choices.
Montaigut Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Hi, Good post. My vote went to the D4. Wonderful smoke all around.
investandprosper Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 The CoRo is a wonderful smoke when they're on (and they often are). The D4 is too hit and miss, but when they're on they are heavenly. The CoRo took first for me, though, by a long shot. The vanilla and caramel just hits the spot.
88keys Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I went for PSD4, but I don't love them right out of the box like some guys. I think they can use two or even three years. From then on -- perfection.
CBL Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I voted for the PSD4, one of my favorite cigars ever since I bought my first box (10) from 2008, still waiting for an opportunity to buy a 25 count box from 08 or 09! Trinidad Robusto T is a close second, delicious all the way but it doesn't evolve much. A little expensive for what you get, there's some NC that pack the same flavor for less. Still would love to have a nice box of 12 to keep in the humi for a while Sadly I have yet to try the Cohiba Robusto
Guest Robusto 107 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I will vote short churchill rather than JL2
laficion Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 For all the qualities you mentioned, For me It has to be, Ramon Allones Specially Selected.
CanuckSARTech Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I voted for the Trini Robustos T, as those are what I'm looking to do some stocking up on right now (those, and my PSP Monte 4's ). However, my general robusto preferences goes CoRo, T's, D4's, then Short Churchills. The T's weren't even on the list for a while, but after a few sticks this year of some only 6-month old stuff, I think they fit the bill a bit more than the D4's for my preferences. I still prefer the CoRo's above all else, but these T's should develop into something phenomenal in the years coming. Time will tell if they equal or better the CoRo. Gawd, wouldn't that be a coup??!??!
bassman Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 For flavor, a tie between Trini T and RASS. RASS got my vote for the value factor.
mbrody Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Honestly, whatever is smoking good. If I have to choose one at it's peak, JL2. That's my vote...
riderpride Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I'll have to go with the BRC; I have a poor performing box of PSD4 from Sept 09 that has dropped them out of contention. Then again, even the BRC needs 3 years to be great (IMHO).
Ken Gargett Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 been fascinating to watch the voting. comes in blocks for some reason? perhaps diofferent time zones prefer different smokes? coro started well but was then run over by D4. then came back and went well ahead. now D4 a revival. and rass coming from well back. rather bizarre. perhaps we need exit polls?
Dbone Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I voted for the CoRo. It by no means offers grate value, but flavor is king. I don't care for the Robusto size though. I always find it difficult to pick favorites in any category. There are WAY more Marcs I enjoy than I'd say I DON'T like. Any Robusto in the lineup when on would be marvelous in it's own way. Only ones I haven't had is the Hoyo & RyJ.
docbp87 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 My favorite robusto, consistently, that I've had is the BRC... but if the question is "if you were to buy a box of robustos today what would it be?" my answer would be CoRo.
