KB24 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I haven't purchased a box of cigars in over 3 years as I have been getting a business started and combining that with the birth of my first child, my cigar funds have taken a backseat. I also have never made a purchase from Czar but when I look back at most of the boxes I do have and see a lot of draw problems and lack of quality control, I think it's time (Just waiting to hear back on some work deals before I pull the trigger). So here's what I am thinking: I know I want a box of Monte #2. I think I might order 3 boxes total but not sure on the other 2 boxes. Here are some ones I'm thinking abut and I appreciate your opinions. -QdO Coronas -HdM Epi 2 -RyJ Churchill -Trinidad Coloniales -SLR Serie A -BBF -Patrick
Colt45 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 KB, my suggestion would be to discuss your list with Lisa / Rob and get their thoughts on what they have currently. They also might be able to suggest some currently great cigars not on your list.
Puros Y Vino Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Your list looks good. From my experience and a few friends as well. The RyJ Churchills seem to suffer some quality control issues. Most of the ones I've smoked get plugged halfway. I have six left in my humidor that I'm scared to light up. Short & Wide Churchills fare much better quality wise. Check out to see if there are any FOH reviews on it. It could be that the Czar's stock is better. HDM Epi 2's and Trinidad Coloniales are delicious. I've never had a SLR or QdO so I can't comment there. I did do a recent review on the BBF: see here. Hope this helps.
Dbone Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Nice to hear you are able to get back into the game and some fresh stock. The only cigar I can make comments on in your list is the Monte 2, which have been top notch as of recent. Whatever you get from the Czar you are going to thoroughly enjoy.
laficion Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Patrick, Here is how I see it. First, you have some nice cigars on your list................. (SLR Series A ) Second, Colt gave you the best suggestion if you want to be sure to get what you really want. If I haven't bought a box of cigars for over 3 years, no question that these new boxes are going to be more or less. something OK. I'd hate to be disappointed, so call or send a message to Lisa or Rob and talk about your tastes & what you enjoy the most in cigars, I'm sure that you'll get the best advice. No miss and only hits Well, that's my 1€€'s worth of an opinion
joeypots Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 If you will be smoking these soon, ask our hosts what is smoking good young and go from there.
LeafLover Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Personally, I would go with the SLR A's. Fabulous. Hope business and baby doing well.

fugwumpy Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I think Colt nailed it. Tell Rob/Lisa/Smithy your flavor and/or size preferences and have them suggest from what they have that's currently good.
coneatty Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Nothing wrong with Party Shorts. Just got a cab as my first purchase from the Czar. Absolutely delicious.
